I found nearly every post from DC stimulating. I wanted to read what he had to say.

I do not know why he does not want to post anymore.

How can he come back, without losing face?

No worries, I've lent him a chess clock today to support his club so he'll be back if only to berate me!

Re message 6.

You refer to your old Uncle Percy's missus.

Surely, she was your Auntie!

What happened? Why did he leave? Did he announce it, like so many others, who can't actually stay away? Can someone post the link to his last post?

Rigsby.

You didn't leave a "space" after "back," and "someone".

I'm also not sure if "bb,s" is better than "bb's", or even "BB's", or even.... who cares!

Secondly, or is it thirdly, I believe a comma is required between "years" and "but".

I don't know Jean, you go away for a fortnight and come back only to find your friends have disappeared. I'm never going away again!

msg13, pinkchilli, in proper English, one should never put "but" or "and" after a comma.

Tony

ps Yes, I know we all do, but we shouldn't (should be Yes, I know we all do but, we shouldn't)

Re 21, minetor

Sorry to disagree,(!) but in proper English you do use a comma BEFORE "but, and, or,nor,so" to connect two independent clauses.

Pls see rules for comma usage

RE msg 22, Magbs: (...) DC, come back! (...)

=> As arrogant and pedantic as possible, I hope: no.

P.S. Dear Magbs: I've met many decent, nice British people here (including you) and in daily life I'm pleased to know them. On this board they don't shout, like to debate (because they know what it means and how to do it), are not xenophobes, don't use swear words and can write their own surname without errors. Unfortunately there are also members who behave like children or idiots (can't think about a more adequate word) and think they have to join every thread with their nonsense or silly remarks. I've decided to live without them. So. The subject of this thread has been addressed and can be closed - as far as I am concerned.

2 is two; to is to, serving as a preposition of the infinitive, so is p2p going to the toilet?

Richard

How many irrelevant posts does it take for a topic to go "off topic"?

Whos Yoy, he chinese ?

I see what you mean Hans. We can at least agree on some things and for what it's worth I think you will be a great loss to the board.
