Seen the small ones in the shops for between 95 - 110TL.

We are looking for a Medium/Large one but would like a decent quality one, Worried about the smell. There is a particular make that is very good, Friend picked one up from the South last year, Not cheap though.

Ours is a Zibro bought from Arcelik two winters ago. It was expensive (about 600TL) but kicks out huge amounts of heat and doesn't smell. The only downside for me is that it is heavy when it is full and difficult to move around.

The small red and black ones are available at places like Tektan in Girne, but they do smell and are a bit of a safety hazard unless handled carefully, properly serviced and the rooms are well ventilated. Ideal for green houses and conservatories.

The other types are the 'circle of warmth' heaters made by Toyotomi available in the North for around 700TL or in the South for 225Euros. (Plus getting them back across the border etc.)

The really neat and latest (safest & economical) ones are the Zibro Kamin models (also made by Toyotomi) available in the North near the Levent Honda dealers for around 750TL. Very little smell, or fumes etc. Burns for about 15 hours on one fill of about 7 Litres.

Sounds expensive to buy initially, but heater will last for decades if treated properly.

You get the fuel from the petrol station at the blue pump. Sorry but I don't know how much it is at the moment.

Re msj 10, joandjelly, Yes they are heavy when full and should not really be moved once lit. Safety device may trip also. Have you considered fitting a platform & castors to the base? Works a treat.

Hi Rick,

are there different heat settings, sorry but İ've never actually seen one, when you say approx 15 hours on 7 litres of fuel, is this based on a high or low setting?

Cheers for you help

I have a Toyotomi heater and would not be without it,this will be our 3rd winter here and if looked after will last for years,i have made a stand on castors so it can easily be moved, the heat these heaters give off is excellent and if lit initially outside there is no smell.

Thanks for the tip Rick but we don't tend to move it once it's lit and then it's a job for hubby! We have the DC-100C (2nd down in your link) and it really is good.

Went to Lefkosa today to buy another Zibro Kaman heater for a friend. On Friday it was 730TL, today 850TL ! We were told it's a new batch so the price has gone up. 16% inflation? Greed or profiteering?

We did not buy any heaters there.
