Hi Dee, Kev & Sheila I, for one, will miss NN's postings and particularly his 'Restaurant Reviews' and 'Tales of the Mongers'. I do hope he keeps in touch from Thailand. As for a comparison with NC - that in itself is a laugh! Jean

He emailed us this morning, he seemed very low, (stuck in Thailand with a beautiful young girl) Iv,e told him we are going to take him a few sacks of rubbish and some old odd shoes to scatter on the beaches their to make him feel more at home. If any one is going out to see him soon he said h,ed really like a suitcase full of broken Efes bottles please. I reckon he,ll be posting, as you know it,s not very easy to silence John. (or get a word in edgeways)

JohnnyLee - please pass on my condolences to John when you are next in contact with him. It must be awful, looking at the pristine white sandy beaches with a beautiful young woman at your side. Still, I suppose someone's got to do it. Brilliant idea about the shoes, rubbish and broken bottles; soon have him feeling more 'at home'.

cyprusjoker you obviously dont know John very well, he is a smashing guy and his girlfriend is lovely, get to know the person first and not by his postings as we all have a laugh on here. I have already e mailed today, and he is having a whale of a time, I will see them all in March, when I go over to see my family there

Well with temperatures in the mid 30's over there it should be nice, but boy are they going to need Air Conditioning and when the humidity rises indoors is the only place to be.

TimothyCadman - would definitely agree with you on that one. I did wonder how NN would cope with the temperatures, as it often seemed too warm in TRNC for him. As you say, A/C is a must - the problem being when you step outside! Having said that, we visited Thailand and Malaysia a few years ago and we were very impressed. J

Message 12. you are so right, you have to know him, I have a great deal of respect for him, having known him around 20 years, and dealt with him in the UK, In busines he was 100% straight and, very succesful. He is basically very straight and will tell it as it is right in your face, he don,t fanny around or stab you in the back. Unfortunaley a lot of people don,t like straight talking, I do. He is also extremley clever , but christ can he drive you mad at times.

Message 18 Totally uncalled for. So, that's what anyone/everyone who visits Thailand goes there for, is it? Or are you speaking from experience?

He has basically gone on a long holiday. And to find out about the place, and I for one admire him for having the balls to do it. He want,s a change and lots of things about TRNC have made him a bit negative, I am expecting his new postings to be Positive Pete.

My sons partner is Thai and she is the most loving respective kind human being I have ever met. And they are coming over for 2 weeks in June so better start starving now as she is one brilliant cook. Will be terrified to take her to a restaurant as she will probably end up in the kitchen cooking !So if the rest of the country is like that John will love it. Cyprusjoker it is a pity you never met John as he really is a very nice person.

If he can stand the heat and humidty he will be fine. My wife I spent three years there in the north(which is a little cooler) and the only reason we came home was the heat and humidity. £500 per month and you can live very well in deed. Only problem at the moment is the King is in hospital and if he dies, we know quite a few people who will head for the airport as fast as possible and fly home. But truly lovely country and people, that is why it is called "land of smiles".
