Certainly not a think of the past in the UK with over 40,000 abortions a year being carried out in England alone plus the number of single mums is on the increase as well.

It only takes a condom to stop this and protect again Sexually Transmitted Diseases so why is it not working. Condoms are free from the Family Planning Clinics as are other forms of contraception. Is there not enough publicity or are we teaching the kids the wrong way when they are too young and then they think it is smart to try sex out for themselves????

A lot of questions but the UK doesn't seem to tackle the problem and find a solution.

Nurseawful..there is plenty of sex education in the UK and help with condoms etc.but you can take a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.Some of the problem has to be down to alcohol.Its so easy for young kids to get their hands on and when they have had a couple of drinks all precautions go out the window...Its not just the UK who has this problem,its world wide.There are a heck of a lot of non-teenagers who have kids and no partner.I was in out town cetre for three hours on Friday and was watching how many women who had a pushchair and not many of them were 16yr.olds.The ones who were had mother with them...

There was a programme on tv a few weeks ago interviewing young mothers - many of them get pregnant deliverately in order to get a council house. I works too, they get one.

Sex before marriage? 50 years ago it was taboo and unthinkable in Cyprus. Any girl who became pregrant before marriage and no chance of a marriage would seriously think of suicide. Ten years ago it was frowned on. Now it is not so bad but people will gossip and cause some embarrasment to the family.

I think Cyprus is about 20-30 years behind UK. What will happen in 20-30 years from now? Will "swinging" become acceptable in UK?

The advance of civilization is such that it gives you some joy but it also brings some sorrow with it. So its give and take, the plusses and minuses go together. So I would say with changing of time we demolish taboos but we are no better off. In fact the anxiety it brings is much more. Just think of the stone age man with no worries except how to catch his next food!

It was all the fun of the chase 50yrs ago, you didnt just jump into bed with anyone, to scared of the parents ect. It was just great going out of a week end, with the boys all trying to impress you, courting was great fun, as we girls liked to play hard to catch, it also made the boys keener. But today they dont form a relationship before they have given in to the boys..... No fun, no commitment to each other.... sad really.
