My villa was completed about 10years ago.It has central heating pipes in each room.

Anyone know who will quote me for installing heating system, and if anyone has calor gas,

is it a good way of heating the house.

As your home will no doubt have air conditioning, you should bear in mind that in the heating mode they can produce three to four times as much heat as the electrical power they consume. This is because heat pumps process and transfer the heat in the air outside your house, which is heated free of charge, courtesy of the sun.

A gas or oil CH system will at best give you less heat than the energy you consume.

One proviso - make sure your a/c units are sized correctly or it may prove difficult to achieve desired temperature settings.

Heat from the sun - renewable clean energy.

Heat from gas/oil - finite and with green house gas emissions.

I can only speak for the uk but a heating system using a calor gas tank in the garden is quite expensive more than electricity, or oil and even the otherwise most energy efficient home will get a very low rating which is really hard to explain to the home owner who has spent good money on CWI &loft insulation as well as double glazing

You might get condensation problems, so it might be worth investigating your Air conditioning units and see what the cost might be to uprate those to the correct sizes if they are not already.

It may also be worth you while decreasing the size of the rooms for winter use by the use of sturdy bi fold door arrangements as i have noted while looking all the villas seem very open plan which is great when hot to let air flow but not so good when the weather turns cold and you want to sit and relax watching telly ect all nice and cozy

you dont say if you have a chimney have you thought about a multi fuel stove?

We have decided to not use our portable gas heaters this winter due to the water they produce and also fumes not being exactly good for you, we do not have central heating or a chimney/fireplace. We are going to try and manage with oil filled radiators and maybe a little aircon heat and hope our leccy bills aren't too shocking.

Oil filled rads are as inefficient as gas or paraffin heaters. They burn a kW of power and give you a kW of heat. You are by far better to use your a/c and try to contain the heat by the use of thick curtains, etc. Ceiling fans will also keep the warm air circulating and not collecting at high level.
