Having read the remembrance/EOKA article .I have to admire the Stelios bloke who says what his more PC countrymen believe but dont say in public.

"As fir the TCs, they are insignificant, reminants of the first invasion in 1571 by Turkey. well they can swim or take a boat Turkey is only 40 miles north oh Cyprus."

Until more like Stelios say what they truly feel about the TC's ,instead of toeing the party line of "come back to the ROC we are all Cypriots together", nothing can be solved . Its only stocking up trouble for the future, when true feelings will eventually come out.

girne 29 I think you've hit the head on the nail there. Why swap 35 years of relative peace for the possibility that things would go back to what it was like before?

Mal

For 75 % of the comments by GC's on your site and on Cyprus Forum, it appears their idea of settlement is to get their ex-land back and kick the Turish mainlanders and in some cases the TC's over the sea to Turkey, and everybody lives happily ever after. If they can get that by going the "we can all live together as one" route, they will do so .Once in control ,all bets are off.

While conceding that some TC opinions of GC's are quite negative as well, it should be pointed out that they are not the ones askiing for all to live under the umbrella of the ROC as one country.

You are right about the dangers of a settlement based on equal partnership and respect when the true feelings of those involved are anything but .These feelings cannot be hidden forever ,no matter what the politicians hope for.

PC is distorting the views of many, and while I dont like what he says,Stelios is at least saying it as it is ,honest enough to say there can be no living together.Partition ?
