I've uploaded a another map of Kyrenia to my server (Kyrenia during the Venetian period 1489-1571). Maybe interesting to see the differences between Lusignan-Kyrenia and Venetian Kyrenia. If you want the map you can download it here: http://www.allcrusades.com/BB_pics/Kyrenia_Venetian.zip

The file has a password which you can obtain for free if you email me: mcf.trnc@gmail.com

I'm very interested in comments about downloading and unzipping the file (problems with the password?). Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear all: the required password for my Kyrenia-map will be sent to you this Friday afternoon. Please inform me if you have any problem decompressing and opening this zip file! Thank you.

Richard: winzip is commercial software for computers with a version of Windows to unzip zipped files (you're still with me..?). You can find free software on the net (so called freeware) here: http://is.gd/4ONIm . Download and install and next time a zipped file will unzip easily (but may ask for a password before the unzipping process continues).

RE msg 8: Thank you for the feedback, Starybearx! Which software did you use to unzip? (Brinsley may benefit from your answer).

I have been able to download it and have to put in the password every time I want to view it. Is that supposed to happen? I am on a PC using Windows Vista.

I had an Apple Powerbook before, but that belonged to the Isle of Man Education Department, they give all teachers a Mac laptop, (new ones every two years) and I really miss it! Had to give it back when I took early retirement. Am trying to get used to PC, but it isn't anywhere near as good as my Mac.

RE msg 13, Snaefell: (...) I have been able to download it and have to put in the password every time I want to view it. Is that supposed to happen? I am on a PC using Windows Vista. (...)

=> Thank you for your feedback! No, it's not normal behaviour. Which software did you use to unzip? (After clicking or double-clicking some software must have started for you to see the unzipped file. Did you save the content of the zipped file to your desktop or to a download folder?).

P.S. And about PC and Mac - what can I, Mac user for two decades, add to your opinion..?

Managed to fix it and saved to desktop. It had saved it to a pictures file and then I had to double right click and select extract. Have managed to save it now. Thank you, it is a lovely map.

I take the map (Kyrenia during the Venetian period 1489-1571) off line tonight, so if you want to download the file (free) and want the password - do it now.

The file has a password which you can obtain for free if you email me: mcf.trnc@gmail.com

Why email? Because I'm very interested in comments about downloading and unzipping the file (problems with the password?).

I'll send another bulk-email to respondents around 9 pm tonight (just before the file with the map goes off line).

Not true, Richard. Just tested. When you click the link the file downloads to your hard drive and ends up in your folder with other stuff you downloaded. Do a search with Venetian as search word and you'll find the file.
