I have bought in 4 different shops this week cartons of the long life milk (pink)

and everyone of them has been off, since the last posting on the forum about this problem I now shake the carton before I buy as someone stated that there's was justs lumps, well mine wasn't and all 4 were sour. it got to the stage where now I dont pour it on my cereal I smell it first.

This is supposed to be long lasting Milk, how long is that I ask myself

I haven't had a problem with the pink cartons that I've bought from supermarkets on East side. Is it any particular brand? I usually buy Koop or Mera.

Smithy - we had the same problem a month or 2 ago, no matter where we bought the milk from it was off, both fresh and long life. Take your cartons back to the shop, not only will you get a refund but the manager will take it up with the dairy. If no-one complains then they are unaware of the problems.

Sheila, We had this problem a few months ago, admittedly it was summer but all the milk was bad and the supermarkets ran out or removed all from the shelves.

Sorry to say but I had 3 cartons of pink Mera that were off last week. Bought them from Hos Bes and took them back. All the others have been fine since.

I have had no problem in Karaoglanoglu Lemar. I choose the milk AT THE FRONT OF THE SHOP, NEAR THE ENTRANCE. I do still shake it though!! The problem ones used to be at the end of the aisle, near the cereal.

That's really worrying. Having had a recent brush with death with ecoli poisoning & 7 days in hospital in the UK, you can imagine I'm rather sensitive to these things. Makes you wonder what hygiene rules are not being adhered to and how dangerous this could be, especially to children & the elderly.

Be a bigger problem soon for fresh milk as the Island dairy farmers were getting such a rotten price that most have now given up, there is only a few herds left around the North now, when we first came over there were several small herds around, but on the last count that we did in the area 5 had gone in the last year....

Maybe folks will have to keep a goat or two for their cornflakes......

I have been using KOOP low fat (pink box) milk for 8 years & 52 weeks a year. I never buy anything else.

I can honesty report that I've never once had a problem with it. This has been true regardless of where it has been bought. In the last few years it has generally been bought in Supreme.

I cannot say the same about imported butter though. This used to regularly be off but has now improved.

I always took it back & would not hesitate to do the same with any product that was not up to scratch.

If you don't complain, how can things be put right?
