Are any of the old coins or notes still legal tender?

That's a point - I have some YTL notes from 2008 when I left.

Are they still usable, or have they been replaced?

YTL is still legal currency until the end of this year

The old TL I think the Central Bank of the TRNC or Turkey (wherever they are) will change them

Had visitors over in Sept and they had lots of the old YTL notes, spent them in the local shops without a problem. In fact I still get the odd 5 or 10 YTL note in change and just don't bother about it. As for the coins, they will be around for a while yet I think, everyone uses them without even knowing it!

However, if you try and change the old notes at the money changers you will get a large NO and be told they are no longer legal tender. Central Bank of TRNC will change them for you right up to last day of December this year.
