I did reply to your message about my satelite problem...can you read please.

Another subject:

Wills

My original Will is dated 2005 and held in the Court safe. I made a new one. They want money to cancel it and money for me to register my new one (in the way of stamps) amounting to about 40 lire. If I do not register my Will at the Court will it automatically cancel the old one. In the UK we dont register Wills, we just keep them at home. Im told if Foreigners dont make Wills in the TRNC whatever you own passes to the Government. I know this is a fact.

Lostfound (msg. 1)

It would be so much easier if you had given me the link, otherwsie I have to search for the message you have in mind. Too much work, sorry.

Wills:

1. You can cancel your will any time free of charge. All you ahve to do is to go with your idendity (passport etc.) and if you have the original receipt it should be much easier.

2. You do not need any money or stamps to register a new will and they are not supposed to see your new will. You ahve to stamp the will properly in order for it to be valid. Then you can keep it under your bed or with the court registrar free of charge.

3. If you do not make a will in TRNC, your heirs are entitled to whatever you have exactly in the same manner as Turkish Cypriots. No more and no less.

I believe your "facts" are wrong.

If foreigners do not have a TRNC will then their estate will be distributed according to the TRNC intestacy rules. They are very different from the UK intestacy rules, but, the government are way down the list, as they are in UK.

Please do not call things "fact" when they are not. It only helps to start inaccurate rumours!

I lost count how many times I corrected this wrong "fact" about the government getting all.

Correction:

There is a small fee for depositing a will in court and it is well worth it but not compulsory.

The Court told me the stamp fee for cancelling my will is 1.50 TL. and I must also go and get stamps to the value of 32 TL and 6 lire. Not sure what the 32 or the 6 represents but you state above there is a small fee for depositing a Will at Court and one must have stamps on the Will for it to be valid so I assume thats what the above covers.

It may have gone up a little bit. The Registrar at the court has the most updated figures.
