First off i would like to congratulate Mr David Haye for conquering the beast from the east as what his known by..... it was a mamouth of a task but i dont really think he did deserve the win for me it was tooo defensive but i do understand why but if you are going to become champion of a title you should take it not slip it under your coat when someone aint looking. now if david put into round 8 or 9 what he did in the 12 and carried on then that would have been a well deserved win.

NOw this is probably in dream world for obvious reasons and i would love to see A rematch in TRNC i would be the forst person to book a ticket... but that wont happen because it would get stopped for obvious reasons ......(GREEKS) but i do think there should be a rematch an for david haye to hold the title and do more of what he did in round 12....Anyway back to the title Why was there no TRNC flag on the shorts this befuddles me very much was there external pressures involved

maybe because it was a world title fight and he was fighting it for his country where he was born..not where he resides some of the time!

Maybe the british union jack was more apt for him.

but he did mention north cyprus in interveiw after the fight, albeit mention.

it would of been nice to see the TRNC flag again.but do we fly the TRNC flag when were back in england or any where else in the world?

the important issue is he won the Fight.

Congratulations .

With the ongoing investigation by Uefa and Fifa into the use of a global sporting event by the ROC and Apoel fans as a tool for propaganda, it would not have been in either David or the TRNC's interest to use his fight in the same way.

Congratulations to David.

I too am guessing he's trying to avoid problems from officialdom & greek protest.

The fact he lives/trains in North Cyprus brings a lot of publicity in itself. Good on him, and I wish him continued success.

I give him 10/10 for just standing in the ring with that giant, no amount of money would have tempted me to do that

Great result for boxing....David is a far better boxer technically.......better to watch too(especially for the females amongst us! ). As we say in boxing circles...." a good big un.....will always beat a good little un".....Valuev is far from a good boxer! It takes guts to get inside the 3 ropes with a man that big though!

David did well to keep out of the way. I don't, however think he did enough work to take a World Title away.

Bear 1 thats exactly what i think........people have commented that they wouldnt get in the ring with him but im guessing that they are not Professional boxers and will be challenging for the wold heavyweight title any time soon so david had to fight him to get the title that he wanted

I am proud of david and the achievment of being champion and dont wanna take nothing away but i dont think it was a performance to take the title

Maybe he won this fight the only way he could without getting his face mashed up by jabs. It was frustrating to watch, but maybe the end justifies the means. I think he was waiting for Valuev to run out of steam, which he didn't! I too feel he could have knocked him out if he had been braver?(more reckless?) earlier. He obviously had a game plan and it worked. I only needed my fingers and toes to count the number of punches landed in the whole fight. Let's hope his next showing is more spectacular.

Firstly congratulations David! We saw a piece on Sky News lunch time and it showed him after the fight walking in to a room in a pair of shorts with the Union Jack and the TRNC flag on them. He had changed into them after the fight, probably wasn't allowed to wear them for the fight itself.

I stayed up and watched the fight on Fox, the Turkish commentator spoke so well of David, there was a lot said about the shorts issue and something about death threats and a lot of outside pressure.

As far as the Turks are concerned he will be a hero here.

So its true there was some sort of external pressure involved with him not wearing the trnc flag on his shorts..... never mind maybe he will do it in the next match when he is defending against one of the klinnchko's...(how ever u spell it) and that should be more of an explosive fight because they are quite technical themselves not just over sized intimidating points winners

the greatest respect to mr haye ,just getting into the ring to fight used to make me almost

become sick and now i feel even more sick when my youngest son get,s in the ring ,but he

loves it .

however the way boxing works is simple if you are a champion ,any champion then it,s up to

the challenger to take the belt of you ,which simply means haye had to take the fight to valuev

whilst he did a great job ,what i mean by that is he did not get hit ,he did not win the fight.

you simply cannot take a title away from someone fighting three feet away at all times, however

if haye was the champion and not the challenger ,then he would of done enough to retain his belt.

bear 1

you know your boxing.

once again well done mr haye and thanks for mentioning the kktc while been interviewed .

As to 'those' shorts - have you noticed that the flag got smaller and smaller and has now disappeared, but I reckon it is because he is not allowed to be involved in politics, and the 'machinery' behind hnim may well have decreed it better to be the Bermondsey Boy with the Union Jack, rather than a Catalkoy Charmer with a TRNC leg!

I know he was asked to be a figure head for TC London kids sports, as was Danis Salman. Danny accepted, but he is TC - David declined for several reasons!

Unfortunately, as we have seen recently with football matches, politics can interfere and interfere badly, and David is a British lad, using TRNC as a temporary home. We are privileged to have him living here which gives support to TRNC without him having to advertise it on his shorts. Super bloke and dceserving of all success. I knew he would win, of course!
