We have had our bungalow up for sale and the number of time-wasters we have had is unbelievable!!. There are the saddo's that just want to look round other peoples homes and then there are the ones that put in an offer - it's accepted and then you just don't hear from them any more!!! Estate agents suddenly find their phones are not being answered by the clients and everyone is just left waiting. If people change their minds, thats fine but why can't they just tell us instead of just not answering their phones or messages. Is it too much to ask? Rant over and bungalow still for sale, drastically reduced.

Is there a possibility that the estate agents have no customers, so they send round a friend of a friend to keep you thinking they are doing something.

Your neighbours may also be doing the same thing, just to see how much you would take.

Never chase a buyer. Just take it away from the agents, then don't tell them why, nor respond to their calls/emails.

There are also loads of vendors who have their properties up for sale, with no real intent on selling them.

I would try and match these time wasters with yours!

I remember an old couple who lived near me they confided that on Sunday afternoons they went out viewing houses with no intention of moving. They told me that they met some very nice people and that they generally made them a cup of tea and buscuits.

Dozza - these clowns are always there, even in UK. It's just that when the market is slow you notice them more because there are very few 'normal' viewers about.

I could tell you some amazing tales about selling my place in TRNC!

It's the ones who make an offer and then don't follow up are the worst. Waste our time viewing - okay, can live with that - but, to make and offer and then disappear is so mean.

When I was selling a house in the UK, and the agents were rubbish (and later sacked), they sent around a "bag lady" who is known in the area to walk up and down the streets all day with bags of aluminium cans! I wasn't rude or dismissive to her. She was interested in how the dishwasher worked and how she could clean the wooden floors. Quite sweet really, although a little bonkers. After she had left, I went down to the agents and my god did I give them a piece of my mind.

I am sure they "employed" people to view, although, of course they denied this.

It could be that your agents are using the same tactics?

Dozza - we had several of those who made offers, all TC. One couple even arranged to meet us at the solicitors office at 5 PM. They never turned up and we found later that they had flown back to UK about 2 hours after they left the house!

Do they get some sort of pleasure out of this! It beggars belief that some people get their kicks in this way by killing peoples dreams and spoiling their future plans. They can't possible understand the grief that they cause by "playing their games"
