We are coming out in July as 2 families but we will probably have one proper night out without the kids. We went in "Roxys" last year(which was probably a bit young for us) and were disappointed particularly by the price of the drinks @15 YTL each. The adults in our party are all in their 40's. Can anybody recommend a good night out in Girne? What is Shakers like? and what about the Tunnel Rock Bar?

Tunnel Rock Bar is excellent! Friday and Saturday nights you will be entertained by Funky Monkey, probably the best band in Cyprus. The drinks are ridiculously cheap and the atmosphere is really great. If you are here for the weekend of the 18th/19th July, there is a full-blown music festival with 4 bands and the lovely Anna playing.

But even if you are not around for that, Funkey Monkey play every weekend. If you know which night you are going you can call and reserve seats in the VIP area where you get nice comfy chairs and table service. I can give you the number of the person to call for this if you'd like.

Also if you are a member of Facebook, there is a group called Funky Monkey - the finest band in Cyprus, this will give you a flavour!

Thanks Kitty 1 we are coming out on the 5th July and going back Saturday the 12th so I would think we would go on Friday the 11th.

Sorry Kitty 1, I'd be no good as a planner. We actually fly back early hours on the 12th so if anything the "big night out" would be on Saturday 5th July (the day we arrive)unless they do bands on any other nights than Friday or Saturday.

Hmmm..well, I guess it depends what time you fly in but Friday and Saturday are the "big" nights at the Tunnel.

The Saturday gig is quite a late one, so you could go out quite late giving you chance to recover from the journey first! There's a lovely restaurant upstairs that's open late as well so you could have a late dinner there and then head downstairs to the Tunnel.

If I hear of anything else, I'll pop another post on.

Hi, depending on the area you're staying in - The Fez have a great night on Saturdays with the all new Time Machine. Music from the 50, 60, 70, 80s etc.

Really good music and great time. Book in advance for a meal on the night though. Look under http://www.cypyp.com and you'll find them in there. Enjoy!
