I was dismayed to read of this and then further when i read one of the readers comments - "Perhaps anyone who's going on holiday to Northern Cyprus this year can track this teenager down and bring about some Sharia justice. It does beggar belief that Northern Cyprus is excluded from the EU year on year but the EU keeps giving them millions in aid when they behave like this. - Christos Melekis, Harlesden When "they" behave like what !!! The suspect was of Turkish origin not Turkish Cypriot ! I take it she/he is referring to the Non extradition agreement - regardless of the fact that TRNC has in the past extradicted people upon request. With such a name as Christos Melekis is it surprising that they are trying to turn such a personal tragedy for the families involved into propaganda and something political. Lets hope they catch whoever commited this awful crime no matter where they are.

Sadly, there are a lot of anti-TC comments flying around now in the light of this tragedy. Even on a tribute site that has been set up in young Jimmy's memory, hateful nasty comments are coming out, propaganda taking the place of compassion. From the way Jimmy has been described I am sure he would not want his death to become a sounding board for hateful and xenophobic people. It makes me feel sick that human beings feel the need to shift attention onto their opinions instead of sharing the weight of another's burden.

It is a sad fact that whenever anything like this happens it seems to be the opportunity for some people to stir up even more trouble. if it had been football related/ race related/religion etc etc there would be people using it as a vehicle for their hatred/anger or plain ignorance. Jimmys mother talks so much sense and with courage about the futility of hate as it only ends up in more grief. In simple terms someone wicked has done a wicked thing and they have tried to run away - where to is immaterial - it used to be Brazil/ Spain that the wicked people went - does that make all spaniards and brazilians bad? and where they are from is imaterial too - if you are wicked -you are wicked despite your colour/ race/religion etc. Some of these people are so full of anger that they really dont know where to direct it - just at the easiest target.

No - dont think so. The bakery one was a teenager who's father was Turkish - I believe the parents helped the police catch him today in London. All very sad -at the end of the day yet another UK teenager has been killed through out of control violence. It is awful that certain people have used it to try and make a political statement about TRNC (which was an untruth in the first place !!).

Hi all, Yes the BBC news website has stated today that a 19-year-old man has been charged with Jimmy's murder. He is indeed of Turkish extraction, as was known all along. Let's hope that justice will be done for Jimmy and his family, but also that people will start to put their political and racial feelings aside instead of using this as a highly inappropriate soapbox. The stabbing in Oxford Street appears to be a revenge attack after the victim was recently charged with rape. There has been an arrest in this case as well. The topic of taking the law into your own hands would no doubt start a very long debate here. But for now, I just hope and pray that Jimmy's killing can be delat with by the police in a swift and efficient manner, allowing Jimmy and his family some peace.
