Hi Smithy, thanks for the reply, do you mean the M&S big store on the road from "town" to Orphanides, or the M&S outlet that is somewhere near Ledra street in the centre of the "old" town. What we need is a gallon of glow fuel that is cheaper than the shop in the north which charges 50E for 5 litres.

best regards

Hi Diana!

Is someone in your family interested in radio control models? We are, and have several R/C model aircraft.

Apart from Sami 'Ucak Model Centre' - he has glowfuel - (see website) in Lefkosa, we otherwise shop at 'Machri Radio Models Ltd', 29a Evagoras Avenue., CY-1066 Nicosia, Evagoras Complex. Tel: (00357) 22456525 Fax (00357) 22674313, E-mail: machri@cytanet.com.cy

He stocks 'Morgan CoolPower', with various %'s of nitro methane.

It's a bit difficult to find at first, but not, once found! You'll firstly find him a bit aloof and think he's totally disinterested, but he's much better for knowing, and his shop is extremely well stocked.

There is another quite well stocked shop in Limassol - 'Nick's Models' - the son, Darren (great guy!) runs the shop mostly, with his mother. Sorry, I haven't got contact details to hand, but he does have a website.

Perhaps we should meet? If interested, phone me on: 0392 8150394.

Hi Tena..

Thank you for your reply, much appreciated. Yes my husband, having tired of DIY on our villa has decided to re-invent his childhood and go flying again. He is not the normal modeler though, he is a balsa/ply.silk and dope man, flying the weird looking things that were R/c aircraft back in the early days. Some of his engines though are as old as he is so I don't hold out much hope for either of them lol

best wishes Diana E

Ps he tells me that Black Magic from the APS plans handbook will ring a bell in anyone over 60!

'he is a balsa/ply.silk and dope man...'

And so was I! - Except that I used tissue, or nylon - only did one glider in Japanese silk - too expensive!

Unfortunately, you can't buy dope in all Cyprus - I've tried. Now it's all 'Solafilm/Solartex' iron on stuff - not nearly as durable or strengthening to a balsa airframe as doped nylon!

You might be interested in an 'old(ish) timer' I've got - a DB (David Boddington) Autogyro!

At the other end of the scale, we're on the point of completing a 108" w/span J3 Piper Cub - just a few cosmetic jobbis to go.

Please contact me - I'd be delighted to meet you and help if I can!

Hi Diane

My husband has built from scratch many model aircraft for years he also has a few almost ready to fly. (Chinese take Always) But otherwise he builds from Balsa ply etc.. 1/4 scale stamps etc.. However we have moved to smaller house now and don't have to room to house them all. so some have to go. he uses 4 stroke engines, if anyone is interested in talking to him about his planes his number is 0542 883 3550

Mike, theres a shop on the road up to GAU, on the right and another in LEFKOSIA, Straight across at main roundabout (Poo on sticks water feature!), past hospital, through traffic lights(where you'd turn left for residency), keep going and road splits into two, keep to the right and theres a rather well stocked RC shop on left hand side.

Personally I can recommend this company (shipped to UK address) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/listings/cat-b.html
