I have my kimlick card, and have had for approx 15 years, when I moved to cyprus in 2004 with my english husband and child..... he also got his kimlick card...he would have had to do his turkish national service, but because he had been in the british army...it was classed as a conflict of interests, so didnt have to do it...... i believe there is an age limit also

Ismet, I am a UK national and have a white kimlik card. Can you tell me what the restrictions (if any) there are on me working? - can I set up my own business?

I would love to become a citizen and have my poor husband be the oldest military potato peeler in the business. He doesn't speak Turkish, so could not obey the square bashing commands, and as he is 80 it would make a great story. BUT he was in RAF, so would be exempt. But ladies don't squirm in your furry boots - they don't call up ladies - just the fellas. I do know of one man, married to a London Cypriot who wanted to become a citizen, but changed his mind when, although told he could have his kimlik card and be a citizen, would have to do national service. He has settled for permanent residency.

Could it be that Permanent Residency card is white, and Citizenship, green? With the Permanent Residency, would one be allowed to run a business etc.?
