Must be only muslim country I have ever been to where I actually get sick of having bacon hehe. Don't get me wrong, I think the bacon is of a good quality, I just get sick of it. Been having it more than I would in UK.

I can't believe this post, don't eat it so often and then your craving might just come back for it. This is a Secular State not a Muslim one though Islam is the prominent religion! 'The Pork Shop' in Alsancak sells it fresh as he has a pig farm in TRNC. Richard

I could eat it until it comes out of my ears. Must be well done though! Looking forward to visiting UK next week and full english! Bacon in Bavaria is only streaky, they don't have the whole rasher!

Also excellent bacon from Hurdeniz - Girne and Alsancak in half kilo packs. No added water and no horrid white stuff oozing out as it cooks.

GBJohn, I agree with your post about chicken. When I roast a chicken here it is so much tastier than the birds we get back home

Pipie, as far as the pork shop is concerned. When driving from Girne to Lapta. The first Starling you come to is one the left, just after it is Chicken Run. The Pork Shop is opposite the Starling. Big pic of a pigs face.

Chicken fillets top with thinly sliced cheese wrapped in smoked bacon - wrap each fillet in foil and cook in oven 180 degrees for about 25 minutes serve with barbeque sauce, baked potatoes and fresh salad. MMMMMMM! Fresh tomato sauce for pasta, made with nice bacon bits. So many things to do with bacon other than breakfast or sandwiches. Love my piggy bits. (Apologies to Miss Piggy) Kissy, kissy!!!

bogelfan, my version of that is to cut the breast open, beat it out, put the cheese inside and roll. Wrap in bacon, cook in oven then cover in bbq sauce. Cheese ouzes out when you cut into it. Lovely jubbly.

I agree, nice sausages. If you do them in oven they turn out a bit like Cumberland Sausage. I'm originally from Lake District so know what I'm talking about when it comes to Cumberland Sausages ;-)

Unfortunately, we have slipped into the habit of having bacon sarnies in crusty bread every time we are home at lunch-time. You can't have too much bacon, IMHO. j
