Could you ever work for someone like him? Sometimes i wonder if this man puts off people wanting to be a chef, do you think this chap puts a really negative spin on cooking...i have worked for many chefs, and i have to say...it's quite normal for a chef to be like this, and i can tell you from experience, it's quite terrifying, but i've always thought of it as a form of bullying, however, when you're cooking in 100 degrees plus, tempers fly....so...is it bullying or is it perfectly ok to lose your temper under these stressful conditions?

It's kind of annoying, because he really is an extreme, and i'm sure it's mostly for the cameras', but do you think this behaviour should be acceptable, due to the 'conditions' of an extremely busy kitchen?

ps...i have also worked in kitchens where the chef has been absolutely amazing...never losing his temper, and everyone would have walked burning coals for him....and there was hardly ever any problems1

A lot of young or trainee chefs see it as something they have to put up with in order to work their way up the ladder. My youngest brother (still a teenager) has spent the last three years working for two different celebrity chefs in their top notch establishments and has told me a few eye opening stories. The way he sees it though, is that if he can stick it out in these kitchens for a given period of time, it opens doors to bigger and better things and in a way he's right - he now has a very impressive c.v for someone of his age!

None of that makes bullying in the workplace acceptable however!

Love Gordon Ramsey brilliant chef. I don't think he is a bully he tells it how it is, I think if people were not happy with the way they were being spoken to they would leave. But maybe they stick it out because they want to be a brilliant chef like him.

Or maybe they 'stick it out' because they think this is the only way!! I know for a fact, that it really doesn't have to be this way...and now i'm annoyed that TV is making it acceptable!!

You wouldn't find this behaviour in an office!!

His programs where he goes in a place to sort it out are pretty good imo.

Don't like his bully boy attitude in his own kitchens though.

Saying that, did anyone see the Hells Kitchen with Gary Rhodes. He seems liked the nicest calmest bloke in the world but he went ape sh*t a few times

Maybe because there are no jobs out there. And people need to work to live. Or maybe if they speak there mind to the person that is speaking to them this way things may change. Sometimes people are like this because they think they can get away with it. This is also from experience, there is alot of this that goes on in the UK.

I was working in an office in UK. The boss/owner had a go at me so I had a go back. He had to leave early because he thought he was going to loose me. (I wasn't an employee, just a consultant that would come in and sort out his problems)

Love Gordon Ramsey, great chef with a passion for cooking, the swearing is mostly for TV entertainment. I have a friend who works for him and he says Gordon is the best boss he has ever had and a genuine, says it how it is kinda guy.

As for Brian Turner... Well not much to say about him, except boring like his food!

i am currently putting in coldrooms and his (ramsey's) new Glass wine cellar which is the centre piece of his new restaurant in Kinnerton street London, we do all his restaurants in these hard times he still is expanding!! he turned up on site last wednesday, i must say, he is a big bloke, i was suprised, im 5'11", he must be 6'3" at least, and he was his usual self swearing etc, but he's a top bloke, done well for himself, thats why he has got where he has...., you can understand he squares up to folk etc, if you were in front of him, i'm sure you would do what he says!! crap payer tho!!!

Daisy often gets bored - you have to forgive her.

With regard to GR - I thought he was up to his eyes in debt? Personally, don't particulary like him, but I don't suppose that will bother him any

I do not think Gordon Ramsey is harsh or rude towards his staff, the swearing and aggresion is for the cameras only , however he is a harsh task master and wouldn,t you be if you had 3 M* under your belt, and keeping your restaurants upto standard,

It is really hard work running your own business and looking after staff ! trust me !

I think Gordon does a great job, and is a great Dad and Husband doing the best for his family .

Jeannie and loslobos.....i am bored 24hrs a day here...and i had just watched Hells Kitchen, and he got me rather angry, and as conversation is a bit thin on the ground for me...talking to my dogs doesn't count, i thought i'd ask if anyone else gets all riled up at this man! Anyway, still no joy on selling my house, so i will apologise now for all inane topics i post here...as i'm sure there will be many
