Anyone heard any latest on Carlsberg pulling out of Turkey due to higher tax demands. Would also effect us here unless you drink the Efes brain killing beer.

Alas I cannot drink much these days and confine myself mostly to wine, but given the choice of Efes and Carlsberg it would be Efes every time !!!

Efes is a wonderful beer I think - first drank it in Turkey about 15 years ago - and when I had a glass of it last year in NC it brought back many happy memories!!

Simbas, I've bounced out of the Grapevine on many an occasion after a good night on Efes while on holiday in the 1980's and 1990's.

Happy memories!

After my mother died (she lived in Karaoglanoglu) I didnt get the opportunity to visit the island, and only started coming back in 2006.

Sadly old age and bladder problems dont let me drink the capacities I used to be able to drink

Carlsberg...now that's my pint. When I worked in Copenhagen in 78 we went to the "Elephant brewery" nearly every week for a tour and free beers!

Must say I have not tried the Efes yet......but if it is as beautiful as the counrty then I shall be in Love!!! (probabily)

will be bring plenty of Turkish Lager vouchers from the bank with me.

Carlsberg are looking to pull out of Turkey citing overtaxation as the chief cause.

They are in negotiations with a prospective purchaser to sell the brewery on but it is unclear how far along talks have progressed or whether Carlsberg would continue to be produced under license.

They have not yet ceased production but this is likely quite soon. If nothing else is produced at that brewery expect Efes to jack up its prices as the monopoly producer.

When over NC last week i commented to the gaffer at the Bogaz hotel that the Effes did'nt seem as strong as it used to be, i had 18 bottles on Sunday night then had to start on the whiskey just to feel merry. get's a bit expensive then spent 140ytl for just two hour's pleasure.good job the bride was'nt with me it would have been treble that.
