When I first started teaching, I sent a pupil for a hole punch. He was gone a while and returned with a puzzled expression and asked 'A whole bunch of what, miss?'

When i was an apprentice, i was sent to get some sky hooks, by the two plumbers i was working with. They told me to go to a hardware shop as that was where i would find them. I left them working at around 10am, and went home for the day. The next day they asked me where i had been all day and i told them i went to loads of shops and could'nt find the hooks anywhere. I'm not sure to this day if they thought i was stupid or clever, but they never sent me on an shopping trip again.

During my Service days I once had a young guy come to me and ask for a box of tappet clearances for a Bedford 3 ton truck. Also been asked for a left handed hammer and a replacement bubble for a spirit level. This may be off thread, but I think there is nothing funnier than the 2 Ronnie’s sketch on fork handles, cracks me up each time I see it. smiffies
