It's up for renewal, who is the best company to go with to get cover, considering that it's a holiday home?

Ask Steve Dickinson - trates aree goodf and he has a reputation for helping.

He is willing to tell you what you will get and what you will not, which is better than many.

Glad everyone else is happy with him.

Took 6 or 7 months after lots of prompting to get my policy. Was ignored by his staff numerous times.

The apolgies came and an offer of a free years cover was given for all the trouble .

That never materialised either.

I got a good premium from one of my banks. Iktisat or Creditwest, both give great service on everything else

the people who are advising you know little or nothing about insurance or insurance policies....

Many policies issued in the TRNC have more holes in them than Swiss cheese and many people who sell them haven't got the foggiest...

The widest cover available is from "Full Marks" who are next to the petrol station in Karakum - their policy is similar to the ones available in the UK - the guy who runs the place has 30 years insurance broking experience in the UK....

At least you'll be sure of getting a) wide policy cover and b) dealing with someone who actually knows what they are talking about if you have a problem....

Steve gave us first class service when we were there.Unlike the AXA people.Seven months after making a claim,They told us to sue the driver who caused the damage.

I agree with breezyboy....we had been communicating by e-mail with Steve Dickinson a number of times and arranged an appointment for when we were last out in TRNC but he never bothered turning up... we havent heard from him since.

We took out our insurance with Creditwest and are very happy with the service we get from them.

Werent happy with SD's "speil" and when colleague asked for copy of a normal contract (he's in the business in UK) and it never materialised. Eventually we went to Turk Bank,as we bank there, and was ok and quick.

Steve Dickinson didn't keep his appointment with us either. Nor did he telephone to apologise or explain why.

Seems like a bad habit he's got.

Go with a Mainland Turkish company from the West bank.

What happens if there is multiple claims in one go? Just who underwrites any of the TRNC Insurance companys here?

If you live on a complex and 20 Villas suffer land slide or earthquake, that most say they cover, Would the company be able to stand so many claims???

Its just a thought.

mess 16 - Most insurers in the TRNC have re-insurance via an international reinsurer that's unlikely to go bust in the event of large amounts of claims...

Msg 19. I understand that.... Ok take the risk. "International" dont really come into it here "TRNC" does it?

The only underwriter that will pay out on a large multiple is a Mainland Turkish bank.

Not a TRNC "re-insurance via an international reinsurer" as you put it

Hector message 18 - yes. After we were stood up by S D we took out insurance with Gunes Can (now Can Sigorta) who paid us out in full - over £1000 - for damage sustained when lightening struck our house.

mess 20 - Tootie, not sure if you really undrstand the principals of re-insurance....

Creditwest Insurance, for example has re-insurance with the Aeon Corporation, a $7.5 billion global corporation.......

Enough to pay out if your villa starts subsiding ?
