Here's a recipe to try does anyone have any other recipes for dog biscuits.

2 Cups of plain flour, 1 1/4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 4-5 Tbsp water.

Mix everything apart from water and then add water last, roll out to 1/2" thick, cut and place on a greased baking tray, cook for 10 mins on 400 F or 200 C cool on rack and store in fridge.

Dexter our dog loves them.

Loopylou, when I was looking up reaons for kidney and liver failure in dogs I found a website which listed all foods which were toxic to dogs and could cause organ failure. Garlic, onions and tomatos were on the list. My dogs have snacked on our left over pasta for years which includes all 3 things but I must admit it made me think and now I have stopped giving all 3 of those things to our dogs.

Here's a tasty one: 1 cup oatmeal, 1 stock cube, 3 cups wholemeal flour (I use any flour). three quarters cup cornflour, Ditto powdered milk (altho I have started using milk as part of the liquid needed), 1 beaten egg, third cup marg (or oil - I roast bones and use the fat from that) , 1 and half cups hot water.

Put oatmeal, cube and fat in bowl add hot water and let stand for 5 mins. Add milk, cornflour & egg then flour a little at a time mix thoroughly knead for 3-4 mins add more flour if nec. Roll to half inch thick, cut into squares bake 325 (170) for 50 mins (or till hard) allow to cool and dry out till hard. I do add any left over meat, cheese and meat from cooked bones, they are delicious - I have tested them! I have also given recipe to a few friends who agree - enjoy!

Sorry didn't mention how to store them. We keep them in an airtight container, although sometimes forget to put the lid on and they remain hard, so long as they are hard after they have cooled when taken out of the oven they should be fine.
