I must say I am using "Google Desktop" and "Picassa3" and they are both extremely useful.

"Desktop" indexes everythin on your computer and even other computers if you have a network and you can find anything you are looking for instantly. I recommend it to everybody.



"Picassa 3" recognizes faces in all photos and you can put names to these faces. Then it becomes dead easy to locate pictures of "ismet" or whatever on your computer. Ain't it fantastic?

So, if you are trawling the net, and come across a random photo of someone, does picassa use some kind of facial recognition and tells you who it is?

With Picassa 3, when it starts indexing, it looks at all the faces in all the photos and puts similar faces together. When you name one of them, it bunches all faces belonging to the same person together and you have to approve or disapprove. It is very successful. Even the same person with a beard in one and no beard on the other is recognized as the same person. It can beat me anyway

Once indexing is complete, you can search for any person on your computer. It is free and can be easily downloaded.

Hey Ismet, have you not found that certain people's faces confuse Picassa3 ..depending which they 'wear' ?!!!
