There seems to be threads started here that suggest 'meeting up' for company and generally getting to know one another...but then fizzle out before anything happens?



One of my 'single' friends has returned to the UK today...we used to go bowling on a Sunday night at Star bowling...anyone interested?.



Also the STARFEVER Christmas Party on the 19th December would be a great night out ...if you have some friends with you? buses will be available for transport to this event from Karsiyaka with pick up points along the way!

Fine Pete ...the original idea was to get a group of 'single' people together to make some new friends....i've no objection to couples who might like to come too but there has been a few threads from people who are on their own and its difficult - especially for females to walk into bars or restaurants or go bowling ....alone.

I have been following these 'singles' threads, they don't seem to work do they? Everyone starts off enthusiastic, then nothing happens.

I think a lot of the problem is that no-one really wants to give out their e-mail or telephone numbers as you never know who might call you?...especially if you are single!



If i get some posiitive responses on here to either suggestion I am willing to take that risk lol

Hi Linda, What I have noticed over time is even if someone arranges a place and time, it still doesn't work, I suppose it must be a very scary experience walking into a bar on there own, and even though they have conversations with people here, they still wouldn't know who's who.

Maybe a meeting at the windows bar in Girne (or somewhere similar) during the day would be better, at least you wouldn't feel awkward as lots of people go to these places for a rest after shopping.

Just make sure each of you are wearing something to recognise each other by like .....erm a flower?

It should probably be said that this is not intended to become a 'dating agency' purely way of meeting new friends. It doesn't necessarily mean if you are in a relationship that you should be excluded from joining us.

It is understandable people don't want to give out their e.mail addresses BUT it is so quick and simple to set up a hotmail address that one could do that solely for making contacts for the above reasons - and if any stalkers or weirdos or somesuch write, they can be ignored, yet contacts can be made - people met, and should things even then, go awry - there is no way one can be pestered in future - as you just don't use your 'dedicated' hotmail address again - and for those you meet and become comfortable with, you can give your usual e.mail address to.........
