Hi everyone - we have just completed our purchase on TBV and have just returned home. All there was a really pleasant surprise and we found everything and everyone very easy to get on with and complete. We snagged our apartment with Ali who was both very helpful and obliging. After several deliberations on furniture - we have arranged our furniture package with Lesley from Vision (0533 8673369) who was both very professional and friendly and had many ideas that we fed from to achieve the look that we wanted for our apartment. Only blot so far on the horizon has been the attitude from a TBV Property Management person on site - trying to dictate with who we should be purchasing our furniture from and not who we want to. We have found this to be a slight warning as to what indeed the Maintainence Company will or will not do in the future. As we have purchased freehold I feel very strongly that it is the freedom of choice for all and sincerely hope that this does not spoil what should be a great purchase for the future. Time will tell. Sorry to sound a bit down on this but after the euphoria of getting our keys and looking to forward many happy years at TBV - I feel it is a shame that a few will try to spoil it for others if they are allowed to. Happy times to you all.

If you are taking up the contract with the management company for them to rent etc for the two year period then you have to go with the furniture they choose and not your own! Hence why I think a few of us are not going down that route. If you want to be independent then you can choose what you want. They may have just misunderstood you and that's why they have told you which furniture to buy and where from.

Hi Bonnie We too have just returned from TBV after snagging ,signing and adding the finishing touches.Found the whole experience alot easier than I thought. We too have bought our furniture already, as have lots of others, so how can we join the management company if they state that we have to buy our furniture from them to be able to join.(dont forget everybody has joined the maintainence company that is Rescko we paid £1200 upfront for 2yrs, its the management company that will state what furniture you have as they wil be renting it out for you if you require) I hope that they have different levels of packages as some of us will want some things and others wll want the whole package. We too think that freedom of choice for all is very important so lets just wait and see and hope that we can all get the package we require

Hi all, Unfortunately with alot of developments when you opt to go into rental pools things like this normally happen! Its a case of they have a certain style or standard in mind and try to keep rental properties all similar - similar if you were to go to a self catering resort or hotel rooms are all packaged the same! But at the end of the day you do have freedom of choice- but will this effect you rental or not? Have they given you a choice now or not? See ya D

Hi Toon army Nice to have met you when you were out. To anyone out there, have you received any further revised management package as we were unaware of the furniture issues and were told by Arie that they were only just working on revised plans since they have taken over from Hawthorn / Hyatt on the 05th May ?

Hi Toonarmy Just read your thread. When Hawthorn were going to be running the management company you had to have the furniture they provided if you wanted to join in the rental scheme - were you only had your apartment for 10 weeks of the year and the rest of the time it was handed to them and you were also tied into this agreement for either 5 or 10 years (cant remember the exact years). This was so that all the apartments rented out through them were the same (bit like an hotel). I remember receiving another e-mail after it became apparent Hawthorn werent now going to be the management company that the new company would also be following this policy with the furniture etc but you would only be tied in for two years. Having said this I'm sure over the last few months there have been developments within the new organisation that nobody is aware of and I guess until we are all up and "running" then nothing can be confirmed for definite. Also I just wondered - how did you pay your management fee for 2 years because our current management costs every month (as of August) will be £40 until March 2008 (when I expected they would increase this figure slightly). If you have been lucky enough to pay £40 per month for the next two years - well done! Perhaps we should do the same and that way know it will be fixed for that period of time! Or was it the one off fee of £960(?) to Resco plus management costs up to and including March 2008? Questions, questions -sorry!!

Hi All - I think I may have mislead you - I am not intending to rent out my property - only friends & family will use it. What has annoyed me is that I was prepared to have a small advert in my window for the furnisher - as another apartment had done - only to be advised that this is not acceptable and will be removed!! By whom I ask and if I choose to place something in my own window I should be allowed to to do so. As for the £1200 charge that we have paid this is a deposit in case of default not aprepaid maintainance payment as some of you seem to think - best to clarify if you are not too sure.

What reason did they give you for you not being able to put a sign in the window for the furnisher? That does seem unreasonable if you have completed already. They must give you a reason for you not being allowed to do this. Do the apartments not have numbers on them yet??

Bonnie - can I suggest you join the owners forum and chat to other owners who have completed already and they may be able to advise you or may have had the similar experiences. http://www.groups.msn.com/turtlebayvillageowners Regards Nicky

Hi Bonnie Hi Bored Housewife Sorry I think we ahve all got crossed lines here. Yes maintainence fee £1200 up front as a deposit incase of default then £50 per month for a 3 bedroom apart (think its less for a 2 bed). New management company - when we got an Email stating that Hawthorn we no longer Management company and a new company were comig in it still stated that one of the conditions were that you ha to get furniture to their standards.I think we all need to wait for further detais. When I was there last weekIn asked abut further details of management co. Staff at TBV stated details would be out soon around July/August Hope this helps

Hi Guys, it was nice to put a face to a name. Sorry we did'nt get the chance to have a drink and a chat. We spent most of the week organising furniture etc. The rain or should I say tropical storms, put a bit of a dampner on things at the end as we were more organised by then and could have spent a few hours in the sun relaxing. Everything went well, the furniture etc is organised, and I suppose the bad weather did highlight a few leaky areas, however hopefully Ali will have those attended to by now. We are trying to go back out for the first 2 weeks in August. The flights are very expensive from Glasgow/Edinburgh so watching to see if the price will come down nearer the time. Have you organised your flights? If so who are you flying with? I don't mind a journey in the car or an internal flight to another airport if the price is good.
