Do you think the UK Government should negotiate with these Pirates for the release of the couple? They also ask for the public to help in anyway. What do you think?? http://tinyurl.com/yc2bngb

I didn't find the video of the Chandlers to be very convincing, as the pirates seemed more concerned to be on film, and one was even drinking water. I doubt those weapons were armed. The couple knew they were entering an area that is renowned for pirates, usually avoided by most sailors. Did they think the Royal Fleet Auxilliary were there for their safety? They only have weapons in the small arms category. They are there to pump fuel and supply provisions etc. as a support ship to the Royal Navy. I too would be upset if it had been my family, but they must have realised when they set out, they were not just going on a picnic.

Negotiate and pay out and all UK citizens abroad in certain areas become far more vulnerable. Easy money..kidnap and get rich quick. However, it seems to be the modern UK way..pay now and fxxx the consequences for the future.

No negotiations with pirates, kidnappers etc. Never. I support the Israeli attitude: no negotiations, and the world knows it. Kidnap an Israeli and the Mossad will be after the kidnapper until he/she is dead. It's the only way.

No negotiations with kidnappers, only leads to more. This couple were pretty stupid to go into an area known to contain pirates. I hope they get free though, and these pirates have not killed anyone - yet.

Negotiation with kidnappers/terrorists will just put other people at risk in the long run, as Corbo says, easy money.

Although I feel extremely sorry for this couple, the question has to be asked why did they sail in those waters when they knew they were infested with pirates? Now, we either have to pay or the SAS has to risk their lives rescuing them.

What I can't understand is why the world is letting these pirates get away with it. If they are not discriminating about who they kidnap and it doesn't seem that they are then why the hell can't we just go and get rid of them!! They are a threat to all shipping and if they keep getting away with it then what stops pirates from anywhere in the world jumping on the bandwagon. GET RID

So there we have it, all for no negotiations eh? Mrs thatcher will never be dead whilst you lot are alive , will she?. Un beknown to you all, quite a lot of british lives were saved in N. Ireland due to hush hush negotiations between the british and the prov. I.R.A. and lots of monies paid out for captured servicemen. Oh and by the way, Thatcher was quite rightly, "kept in the dark". So tell me this? If it was your mummy and daddy, would you be coming out with that crap? I somehow dont think so!. Everyone has a right to travel anywhere and not expect to be captured for ransom. Ask Terry Whaite, john mc Carthy, sonny mann and Brian Keenan what they think of your type of reasoning, and I'm dammed sure they will tell you to go and ---- yourselves!. Ps , there's no need for that , you can put your view across without using insinuated offensive words , i am deleting the word as children read this forum ------ Simbas

I got sick and tired of hearing about this couple and I have no sympathy, they knew there were pirates in those waters and they should have stayed away, let thm raise their own ransom. On the issue of the pirates, I say send in the navy and airforce and blow them out of the water.

Simbas, at least i only insinuated the word, Ive seen a lot of posts on this site using the "word" in full, and nothing done about it. However, (believe it or not), I agree with you but ,saying that, Its all too common these days and children are exposed to it in everyday life in all sorts of ways.

The latest news from the UK Government....... A spokesman said: "The UK government position is clear: we do not make substantive concessions to hostage takers, including ransoms." Instead they are using all their connections in east Africa to try to shift "perception away from cash machines" and to try to persuade the pirates to do the "humanitarian thing and let them go", said Mr Gardner. He added that although Somali pirates were very good at putting psychological pressure on, they had never killed anyone themselves. There are fears that the pirates could sell the couple on to Al-Shabaab, an Islamist group in Somalia, if their demands are not met.

Yeh the Al-Shabaab are have been looking for them ever since they got captured, and they WILL harm them with no trouble. The pirates dont have a track record of killing people for no real reason, but the Al-Shabaab arnt ones to care!
