Four days running I have had to get fresh milk as I have a young child staying with me, the date on the plastic bottle was in date but the milk was off all 4 of them, he wont drink the carton long life, I can maybe understand one bottle being off but every one bought on different days, so please if you are buying for a baby or young child please smell if first before giving it to them, we are now desperate, got some from Tempo this afternoon and guess what that was off and the date was for the 25th November dreadful

Just a thought, I bought a plastic bottle of milk only to find when I got it home and put my glasses on that it was ayran.

I have never, ever made this mistake before, and it is usually easy to tell them apart as they are generally in different coloured/shaped bottles, but recently this manufacturer has started doing identical blue packaging and the only difference was the wording.

I am not suggesting for a minute that you don't know the difference, but this one fooled me.

Smithy - I do hope you took these back to the stores even if only to highlight AGAIN, as this problem has popped up quite a few times now. When I find a bad bottle I make sure that the next bottle I buy has a different packaged date. (mot use by date)

Hi Smity

Hope your both well,

I checked every date and they had 3/4 days to go but they were all off, but my daughter in law just threw them down the sink before I could return them.

have to think before buying next time

We have had the same problem with milk thats gone off with what we assumed was fresh milk. We now buy our milk in the south and freeze it. Its much nicer.

We had the same problem in August. We looked for milk in several different supermarkets and the use by date was always the same and they were all off . We thought it might have been the heat or just a duff batch. Anyone know why this happens?

They have a cleaning problem, normally fresh milk packed in hot countries will not keep, but the latest technlogy allows fresh milk to be packed in what is known as super clean conditions.

All the packaging is subject to sterile conditions, the milk is not super heated which gives the UHT taste. The bottles are packed in safe condition air condition, positive pressure or in Co2 to prevent bacteria growing.

These machines require very special cleaning and sterlising to prevent, the milk going off.

I suspect the problems lay there. Back to UHT for a while or UHT milk is held in stock for a week to 10 days before being sold. Plus the dairy has time to carry out checks.
