Guardian Angels are thought to be spiritual beings that are "assigned" to assist people here on Earth in various ways. Whether there is one angel per person, one angel for several person or several angels for one person is open to question. But whether you believe in them or not, or whether you want one or not, believers insist that you do have a guardian angel. Numerous books and various websites on the subject of angels are full of anecdotes. Do guardian angels exist?

They absolutely do exist. I know many will believe it's all claptrap but I consider mysel to be a fortunate and lucky person and that's because I've put my trust in my guardian angels and ask for their help when I need it. It's always been given, though not always in the way I've expected but always for the best.

OK one question I would like to ask is that of those that believe, who do they think their guardian angel is? A deceased member of their family? or what/who? AJ

I remember meeting someone who was quite adamant that their guardian angel was their deceased mother. You cna't prove that or disprove it. Of course, other religions could say it is their god, or god's helpers - which could indicate that it is not so much a one on one, but whichever 'servant' is available at the time. But isn't this like a lot of faith matters - it doesn't matter who or what it is, but that it exists? Or there are those who believe that angels are a set ofbeings just as humans are a set of beings, and one does not become another. Yes there are books galore about the subject, but in the end for all the books you read you are back to the question of 'Do I believe it? Do I have a guardian angel' From childhood I was taught I had a guardian angel - it is easy for kids to believe that - it is the complicated adults that may reject it, but it is good to think that a greater being is helping us from another dimension. It certainly gives a feel good factor.

Not being a catholic I do not believe in angels guardian or otherwise. However, as Lilli says if you believe in them and that gives you spiritual comfort, I would not deny them to anyone. My religion is tolerant.

Nought to do with being a 'catholic' (by which I assume you mean Roman Catholic) but many religions have the concept of angels, including Islam. So what is your 'tolerant religion'. Sounds interesting.

MarieB Thank you for your kind enquiry as to my religion. As you are aware, this subject is a very emotive one among us westerners, but it is my intention early in the new year to start a thread about it. Meanwhile I will give you a couple of thoughts to think about, if you have not already done so. First, I have never seen any effigies of angels in Islamic graveyards. I have not particularly looked so you may well be able to put me right on this. Secondly, in the history of humanity there was never a war between different religions until the coming of Christianity. All religions being accepted by all people. Thirdly, all organised religions have creeds and rules of conduct MY religion does not promise heaven or threaten hell and has just one code of conduct which is:- "do what you will and it harm no one"

My opinion don't buy religion in any shape or form, its what causes half the wars in the name of religion. You make your own luck in life, worship the ones that you love most, protect them and stay safe..............

You wouldn't expect to see effigies of angels in Islamic cemeteries when it is a religion that does not permit images of deities, saints etc. Nice thought, but no I don't think anyone looks after me but my living family, bless them, and I may also be their guardian angel.

Messages 18/19 Absolutely right, in my opiion. Most wars, over the years, have been fought in the name of "religion", rightly or wrongly, mostly wrongly, IMHO. I think that most of us would agree that there has been a lot of conflict carried out under the guise of "religious differences". I know it makes me a complete hypocrite, but my son is currently on the other side of the world, and every day, I pray to a God that I don't really believe in, to keep him safe.

JohnW I was not being coy. My idea was to give enough information out to those with enough knowledge to recognise it. You passed the test, but I note that you kept quiet about your religion, which of course is your good right. Jeannie You are not a hypocrite. As humans we all recognise that there are powers that are far greater than us, but there are hundreds of gods among all the religions of this world that it is sometimes very difficult to choose a god to ascribe the power we wish to call upon. Lilli Thank you. I will contact you.

I am a Spiritualist, and proud of it, and I believe that we have at least one spiritual guide, which could of course be classed as a guardian angel. Lor

I think being spiritual is completely different from being religious. I agree with Jeannie that many wars have been fought in the so called "name" of religion, but what religion advocates violence, persecution of others, hatred against people with different beliefs? That is not what religion is about. It is just humans manipulating it to suit themselves. At the end of the day, all that is important is whether you are a nice person who treats other people how you expect to be treated yourself. Being spiritual is a personal thing. Who and what you believe in to make you feel better in the down times and give your strength is completely individual. It could be your parent, your pet, someone you've never met, or just an unknown feeling. Does it matter aslong as it makes gives you strength?

How To Contact Your Guardian Angel We all have guardian angels that are willing to communicate with us, but that most of the time we are just too busy to listen. If we are attentive, and are willing to remain open to this communication, we can receive subtle messages that can help us in our daily lives. If you want a clear and concise message from your angel, you must ask a direct question. Your angel will always answer your questions. You must ask your question out loud. Clear, concise questions will get you clear, concise answers. Answers will always be tangible and explicit, something you can put your hands on. Asking a frivolous question will get you a silly answer.

Angels are always willing to help us, but we have to be willing to accept the assistance since we have free will. Some methods suggest are likely to be much more familiar and comfortable to most people, including: writing a letter to your guardian angel - spelling out your problem and your need visualizing - "see" protective angels around you in your mind's eye call them mentally - think your plea to the angels speak aloud - state your case verbally "Connect with Your Angel" suggests yet another method: meditation. "Make yourself comfortable, sitting or lying down. Be aware of your breathing... Let your body become limp and relaxed. Empty your mind; create space, just as though the whole of the universe was there, inside you. Now just be. No doing. Only being.

Communicate to your angel that you wish to connect with her/him. Wait in peace. Be aware of what happens. It may not seem much at first. Be patient. Subtle changes will occur. You may see light, colors or form. You may be aware of a presence. You may feel tingling sensations. You may feel emotion. You will feel love.

Kibrissibel You are so right in what you say. As I have said before, until the wars between Christians and Islamists, there was no such thing as a 'religious war' all previous wars being fought for mainly territory, loot, personal aggrandisment and that sort of thing. Whilst wars for these reasons are practically finished, religious wars and conflicts are still with us today. However this is going off thread a bit and nobody has yet told me where their guardian angels come from.

2 years ago i was in a really bad car accident, to which by rights i should have died. However, i did not die. now, i do not know if there was a guardian angel looking after me, but there were definitely some human angels who took care of me afterwards. Angels i believe come in many forms, but i think it's the human ones that should get the praise and recognition for their work, not some mystical creature that lives in ones imagination. DD

No1 Thanks for your answer. I don't suppose that I will get a better one. What does intrigue me is why a guardian angel should think that a human being was worth guarding.
