great news! will be out with some new stock next saturday - it has certainly grown since I stalled out last year. Is Ian still running it?

If they can't fit you in at Lambousa or if you fancy doing a Sunday, why not get a stall at Tolga's in Karsiyaka. Every Sunday 10.30 til 1.00 5ytl a stall (tables provided). The bar is open for drinks, teas, coffees etc and a full menu. All stalls are set up under the shade of huge grape vines.

Tolga's is the original market and there are a few die-hard stallholders that could do with the support.

Even if you don't fancy a stall there it is a nice sociable place to visit on a Sunday.

Took a little time to respond - I used to stall out at Tolgas last year - on a saturday then it was nice and friendly - glad to hear it is still going - how many tables does it have? I went to Lambousa today and was amazed how big it has grown and the number of people looking at auction lots as well as buying - well done Ian.

I shall take some time out to visit Tolgas again as I am sure there are some stallholders that I know still there. I am pleased that there is now a choice on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to go to a market. In this economic downturn we are all facing it will be the markets that customers will turn to, more often, for bargains. I haven't tried the auctions yet are they as costly as UK to buy and sell?

Hi bondi

It is still very friendly down at Tolga's but unfortunately most stallholders followed Ian to Lambousa. There are still some old die-hards though including Sheila and Mike selling their fantastic pies and pasties. It would be really nice if some more people would start up stalls at Tolga's as it is a great place to go on a Sunday morning when there isn't very much else to do.

Thanks for all of the responses to my enquiries. To get to Tolgas I go by bus - get on the Karsiyaka bus ,its about ,I think , 3 or 3.5 ytl one way (from Girne) and Lambousa(from Girne) is 2.5 ytl one way can use Lapta bus (turns off left by LA Hotel and get off around the corner). We put all the gear into a case on wheels and off we go ...... (we dont have a car here and to hire one for several weeks is not cost effective) I don't know where you are coming from but both are easy to find being just on the road in the case of Tolgas or just off the main road for Lambousa. Good value for money for the table as well - 3 and ytl respectively. When you think to do a boot sale in UK its £10 for a car to start with and you have to make that up in sales before you go into any sort of profit and you are more or less guaranteed good weather and no muddy fields.

Sissy,

The market is held every Saturday. To get to the market travel towards Lapta on main road until you come to the Celebrity Hotel on your right hand side. Then take the next entrance on your left and this will take you into the car park, of the market.

all sorts of things are sold from sausage rolls, pies, quiches right through to bric a brac and hand made goods, jewellery, pashminas, towels and picture framing and more- there is something for everyone and after looking at around 70 stalls you can have a drink in the shade in the outside bar area. Worth a Saturday morning out!
