you have to pay tax on T.V's and anything that is brought over new, other than that i dont think you have taxes on anything else

When I packed my shipment ready to come over I took all the new packaging material off, they only things I paid duty on was the Large TV and the portable, so not bad, just bubble wrap where you can so nothing looks like it just came out of the shop

I may be wrong... (YES - it happens ) - but I seem to recollect that you get the first TV 'free' (as long as it doesn't look obviously brand spanking new) and pay a small amount of import duty on any additional sets.

Same applies to computers & monitors.

Anyone know any better from their recent experience?

I have just shipped out 5 boxes and got stung for £200,+ £75 Customs clearance. I should haver known better as this was not my first shipment out. And no TV either

Bets advice is like smithy said to make sure you dont pay duty DO NOT pack new things in there original boxes bubble wrap, them

You will pay about £40.00 on a TV be it old or new

If anything looks to new they will try and stick duty on it.

If this is your first shiupmet you will also need to get a Mucthas Letter and an Ins & outs from the local cop shop (ins & outs are a document to say haw m\ny times you have been in & nout of TRNC take a 5.60 lira stamp with you a and your passpoprt

You can email me if you require any further info

Hello Cliff

If you would like to contact me I'll email you the import information, although the people shipping you out should provide you wish this.

Cheers

Cliff

We got stung for everything flat packed or presumed new, it was all lined up taken back to customs in Famagusta then we had to pay duty and return transportation. We had a metal clothes airer from Ikea that cost £5, they thought it was some kind of antennae and charged us duty. We did have 2 tumble dryers in the container but we made sure we used them a couple of times in the UK, and left a sock in each! we got away with those and also some other items they did not come across. They also said a 40 foot container was way too much for a family of 3. We heard the customs men asking each other if they had been offered a " backhander" yet? we probably should have made an offer, it probably would have been less than the duty but we were new and thought this was not the way to go.....
