A very interesting presentation from three British Barristers before the ECHR.

Be warned...2.5 hours long but which way will the Court go?

MM

I can see the video Broadcast. It is the hearing of the eight applications before the ECHR on the point as to whether the Court should hear the claims against Turkey for compensation for immovable and moveable property in North Cyprus or whether the Immovable Property Commission is an effective and timely local remedy and thus the applicant's have not exhausted this local remedy.

None of the eight applicants have approached the IPC and base their claim for the EHCR to keep sized of the case on three grounds, namely that

a) their cases were presented to the court before the establishment of the IPC.

b) the IPC is illegal

c) the IPC is not an effective remedy.

Not heard all the arguements but that is the nub of the hearing.

I am not certain if the final judgment has been made.

Harold,s synopsis is correct.

British barristers earning big bucks in this case for certain.

It is clear that the GC want blood. The Racist angle presented by a British Sikh hold little creedence.

Article 8 of the HRA seems the strongest angle of attack and it would seem that property in Varosha is the main target for claim.

The Turkish presentation was also high calibre with a strong case for IPC as a suitable and local effective remedy.

This case combined with the Orams will certainly not be conjusive to comprehensive solution.

I am fearfull of the near future and potential for decline into divergent intollerance, conflict and tension.
