It is about time that catholic priests were allowed to marry. Might not be a total solution. No where in the bible does it say that preachers of the Christian faith should be celebate this was one of the popes of the middle ages that brought this into force. There will always (unfortunately) be perverts in society but I think the rules governing celabicy (sp) should be lifted and the churches brought into the modern world. Maybe, just maybe it might help the abuse of innocents.

'eople have been turning a blind eye to it'

I wish it were only that bad..

Perverted Clergy - with accusations made against them - were often moved to 'another parish' and those who came forward with the accusation were pilloried.

At least the Irish Cardinal has 'come clean' and apologised on behalf of the Church .. but why wait until AFTER the report has been revealed ?

I note that an Australian Paper also points out that the Police 'covered up' , too :o

How the heck does one compensate for being wronged and the system telling you YOU are WRONG, even to suggest such a wicked thing ...?

I note that Cardinal Brady apologised to the victims and their families.

However what about compensation for all those 'victims'. These poor people will be mentally scarred for the rest of their lives. At least those that have not commited suicide over it.
