I would like to address a few concerns members pointed out either on this forum, on other online platforms, via email or face-to-face.

1. Some of you complained about the lack of communication. I tried my best to put the website up as soon as possible, so I did not want to spend hours replying to emails. I replied to some random 30 emails, but I am aware that some 100 emails are left unanswered.

Nevertheless, I sent a message to all people in our Facebook group. I also sent two informative emails to forum admins and I also forwarded these emails to Malcolm from NorthCyprusFreePress.com and Hans who has lots of contacts.

I could have sent an email to everybody easily using the email addresses you have in your profile, but I would consider this mass emailing which I will never do.

2. Some of you complained that I am making money but not caring about our forum members. I strongly disagree with this. I set up Cyprus44 as a hobby and it is still something that I really enjoy working on. As much commercial the website and forum looks, it would have been impossible to keep Cyprus44 up and running without the supporting advertisers.

I urge people to consider the amount of work needed to setup and maintain this website. Cyprus44 is not just a forum but a gold mine of useful information about a lot of things related to North Cyprus.

The amount of money left after paying the bills is so little that most people would not want to do my job. The highest three costs are coding, content creation and website hosting.

I do consider all feedback received very carefully. If I did not care about our forum members, I would not have worked overnight until 4am in the morning to fix this.

3. Some of you complained that I should not have used FastHosts as my hosting company. FastHosts offers very good value dedicated hosting solutions. People who comment about "cheaper, better value" dedicated servers usually do not understand the exact requirements needed to run Cyprus44.

We pay £120 per month for hosting.

The server needs to be in the UK.

The OS should be Windows Server 2008 and not 2003 or Linux.

We need dedicated MS SQL 2008 for the forum.

And the bandwidth should be at least 1 TB or unlimited.

If you know a cheaper solution, pls let me know.

No complaints from me - you'll probably find the ones complaining about C44 are the ones that just moan full stop!!! They wouldn't be (un)happy any other way...

Msg 3, " Some of you complained that I should not have used FastHosts as my hosting company"

the only problem with FastHosts, and I believe you agree with this view Izzet, is that their support is poor and I believe this might have contributed to some of the delay getting back online. This is in no way a criticism of you, Izzet, I abandoned their sister company 1and1 for that reason only. As for a better solution that fullfills all your requirements, I doubt that there is one. Keep up the good work!

Does that mean you are not taking everyone out for a drink Izzet? (only joking)

I know from running Lincguide how much work is involved in a website like this. Mostly people will only contact you when you've got something wrong or they think they are doing YOU a favour.

Credit to Izzet for his hard work.

I wonder what the 'moaners' would have done faced with the awful problem of Cyprus44 disappearing? I wouldn't have had a clue, and yet I have taught 'computers'. A bit like turning on the telly really - I knew what was one, but don't know what happens in the depths of the machine. Same with computers, and so I applaud those who do know and who keep things like Cyprus 44 rfunning.

It is a shame it took so long to right, but that to me is an indication of the fact that it must have been a HUGE problem.

Thanks for fixing it and putting us all in touch with each other again - even the Moaning minnies!

OK, have to admit it was me that sent 100 emails, last one being at 0355 am, which I got no response from. Izzet, surely if you finished at 0400 am and had nothing better to do, except sleep, you could have put my mind at rest and addressed my anxiety issues about Cyprus44 being down. WHat you don't realise is that I many others think of Cyprus44 as our lives. I get up at 0630 am and Cyprus44 goes on straight away. I go to bed at midnight but I have an alert facility which tells me when posts come in, in case it's important. I wasn't able to sleep for days while it was down and cried myself to sleep at night. It was also me who was outside the PM's office with the 44 A board. I'd actually been to the yapi market to buy a rope to hang myself when it came back on. Thank you Izzet for saving my life. I love you.

ps, sorry about all the emails, don't know what came over me.

pps, outragous that you're earning money for your time, is that your hummer with the reg plate

Hi Izzet,

I have been involved with voluntary work for 4 years and its really hard work and the moaners can wear you down.

Please be positive and realise the majority really benefit from accessing the website, you work so hard on.

Bless you

Keep up the good work Izzet and ignore the moaning minnies!

All they do is sit at home trying to decide what to complain about. Always the same old faces, same old moaning, different day!

They will never grind us good happy people down.
