I've had a look around a few butchers and have seen no reduction of beef prices since the import of 17 tons of Dutch beef. It's either all gone to the large hotels or the butchers are not reducing their prices accordingly, surprise, surprise! Richard

Yesterday, Supreme and Erulku both had big signs saying 'Ithalat' which means importation, at their meat counters. The prices for beef were lower than usual and rib-eye steak was on offer in Supreme. Erulku is a big supermarket on way to Ercan. Heading East on Lefkosa to Gazimagusa road it's on left just after turning to Buffavento/Esentepe/Catalkoy. Good stock, nice fruit and veg section and some prices lower than Catalkoy supermarkets.

I was told that the carcasses had BSE stamped on them which, when my friend discovered this, he was told stood for "British Supper Enjoyment". So the beef was really meant for the Brits, Hans.

You and me both Dutch Crusader. Our freezer is full. Erulku in Lefkosia still had it on sale this week and it's very good.

RE msg 12, BillyB: (...) Thats a fecking big cow. (...) => Wrong. Cows in Holland look big because the country is so tiny...
