| This is an interesting article on the ongoing talks from the turkish press. I guess we are coming to the closing weeks after months of speculation. We will see...... anyway, worth a read. http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=___-2009-11-30 |

| I note the article states - "Yet there are claims from very credible sources that both in the power sharing and property headings, the sides may reach an “almost agreement” by mid-February and leave the guarantees, settlers and territorial headings until after the elections" Who are these very credible sources? |

| Well, the situation is in the last chance hotel, I can only agree that a decission will be made on what direction to take and that will be made in the first quater of next year cant see an agreement in that time for reunification and dont expect to see Talet in for a second term so its got to be more isolation with hand outs from Tukey for a further five or six years IMO. | Hi all, The Cyprus problem was debated in the HOUSE OF COMMONS today. Leaving out all the diplobabble, The Minister respondsible said that he had just visited Cyprus and he was impressed by the committment of Christophias and Talat to find a solution to the Cyprus Problem. Both, he stated had "committed their political careers, to solving the Cyprus issue" He followed on to say that the press were very negative in their responses. Are we being told the truth, at this point in time? Just thought! Why no judgement yet on the Orams case? Just my views thats all, wynyardman |

| interesting report perry y'know I almost feel sympathy for the greek cypriot viewpoint: after all they never wavered in their committment to majority rule and their current right to represent the whole island some might see a minor contradiction there of course, but a useful form of words could be found for the protection of the other community ... of course they seem to believe they are already very well protected! as regards talat, he is busting a gut to cobble something together and good luck to him, although I always thought that 2009 was "crucial", not sometime next year meanwhile the continued "de-facto" partition of cyprus with its turkish guarantee probably doesn't depend in any way shape or form on court "decisions" in london nor an "intensified" meetings agenda between men of goodwill those who say they believe the island can be reunified would find it more relevent to first study the underlying "positions" of the two sides beforehand, as it were |
