President Obama has agreed to send a further 30,000 troops to Afghanstan whilst other countries are talking of bring thiers back in 2010. Whilst this was thought to be a short war its now turning out to be a long one

Was it the great Ataturk who said "peace at home, peace in the world" , as is the case I think the U.S.A needs to address it homeland problems, especially drugs and gun laws before trying to control the opium market from source in Afghanistan and it's terrorist organisations.

It is also a good way for arms and warfare R & D to test their latest weapons and increase their sales thus keeping their shareholders happy, not a surprise that the majority of shareholders are politicians. One death to them means nothing if their shares are rising and profits are being made.

Britain looks like sending another 500 troops also. My son is going back to the Ghan earlier than he was due to and will spend 6 months there, not 3. If we have to be there, we need more troops to do it right. I just wish some of our NATO "allies" would pull their weight.

I agree Vaughan. If more Nato troops were mobilised we could get the job done quicker.
