Does anyone know please if a mainland Turkish person with a full Turkish driving licence can drive in the UK too?

I don't think it is any different from a U S citizen, as long as it is an international license, you can you it for the length of your visa.

Last year when I had to go back the UK, I not only drove for a fortnight but hired the car (budget rentals) on my TRNC driving licence. So, no problems.

Valid for a year then either leave and go back or take a UK driving test. Simple really but I could add - just for devilment - you could always buy a BMW and look in the glove box, most of them seem to come with a driving license inside so anyone can drive one!!! Pet hate, sorry. BMW the new Volvo!!!

I have also used my TRNC licence when hiring a car in the UK. Apparently any DL from any country is valid for car hire as long as a clearly looks like a DL. The TRNC DL fits the bill.
