I have a couple of orange trees andı love to have the juice. But there are also other things you can use them for. My cypriot neighbours told me to freeze the orange zest (just zest before juicing). And if you dont want the zest put the peel in the sun and after drying out use as scented firelighters - the oil in the peel is quite flammable! Does any one else have any money saving tips for Cyprus produce?

Pipie - no offence intended here - but do you not have access to Google?

BTW Filfar is a sort of orange liqueur.

A lot of the oranges grown here, are the smallish bitter ones, not so good for eating, or juicing for drinks - BUT, they make excellent marmalade, and the juice can be the basis for some really unusual marinades.

So get your inventive hats on, and start experimenting...

Have you ever tried fresh salmon, marinated in bitter orange juice before cooking?

No?

Don't fancy it?

Well, you don't know what you're missing!

So go on, have a go, and let us know what you come up with - what works, and what doesn't!

Bon Apetite...

Keithcaley,

Try just a pinch of real Scotch whisky with the bitter orange and it really brings out the flavour. (not local stuff)

Chris, message 11 - Yes please! I love good marmalade and always think you can't beat home-made.

Many thanks and warm regards.
