| PAPHOS Police are hunting for a man after uncovering a scam involving fake sterling notes in Paphos Municipal market yesterday. A man, believed to be a British national posing as a holidaymaker, entered the Mocasino shop and asked the female shop assistant to change a wedge of £20 sterling notes into euros. The woman agreed and exchanged the 42 notes totalling £840 for more than one thousand euros. But she became suspicious when the suspect made a hasty exit and on closer examination realised the cash was fake. Thirty-one of the notes bear the same serial number: AD 75 83 880 and three of them have the code: BB 60 50 71 25. |
