Have DS got some sort of spamming 'virus' ? ;)

AGAIN.. the only way you can 'offer' a full SKY UK package at 25GBP is using a 10/GBP Multi-room package box.. it is 48GBP and there is a HUGE risk that if you take the mickey.. SKY will insist the unit is plugged into a UK phone line - and the punter in Cyprus will lose out --- AGAIN

So let's be clear about this.. you are going to charge 125 GBP for a free box ( or it might cost you 49GBP) and 'hope' SKY don't get wise..

OH.. and by the way.. it is * FREESAT From SKY* - not Freeview.. Freeview is the terrestrial aerial receiver that will only work in the UK.

Re Msg 3: Freesat is nothing to do with SKY and they had to give up usng that name after threat of legal action by FREESAT, a joint venture of ITV and BBC. Freesat is FREE, visit: http://www.freesat.com

Hi Geoff

re msg 5

Let me remind you of the url SKY are using .... as of 5/12/09

http://www.freesatfromsky.co.uk/

How does that square with you post ?!

Freesat stuff - that's BBC / ITV/ C4 etc., are broadcast from Astra 2D.. it is the SAME satellite - the SAME freqs.. and transponder .. ANY decent receiver - that can receive the signal - will show the channels..

Specific Freesat and SKY receivers have a EPG ( electronic prog guide) that works with the coloured buttons on SKY / Freesat remotes

The ONLY difference is that you can't add a SKY subscription to a 'Freesat' Receiver

Strictly speaking FREESAT is not free you have to pay for a dish, installation and a freeview receiver then after you have paid for that there is no monthly subscription.

Incidentally you get more channels on freesatfromsky

Hi loving CY

Good point .. YES. you do get more channels ! and YES.. it is FREE - once installed ;)

Please try NOT to use the term *freeview* as this confuses the HELL outta folks.. ;)

As you may know 'Freeview' is the aerial method of receiving the signal via a TV transmitter- NOT satellite

All I can say is that last year there was a real hooha from the ITV/BBC Freesat consortium agin (what they allege - note THEY, not ME!!) the use of the name FREESAT by SKY. I don't know if or how that dispute was resolved, if it was. There are, therefore, TWO FREESATs. Regarding the comments about the ITV/BBC Freesat services I agree, being on the 2D satellite etc not much use here in N.Cyprus, although for folks in the UK where a mini-didh is all you need it avoids a monthly sub to SKY. Here, in N.Cyprus, I am happy with SKY on a 2.4m dish. I can get ITV1, Ch4, Ch5, Ch4+1, More4, E4, and E4+1, plus many many other channels - in fact pretty well all the SKY channels EXCEPT for BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4.To get those I'd need a 4.2m dish, which would also then get either Freesat service. Phew! Moral: don't shoot messengers.

We have a freesat card and want to bring it over for our tv in TRNC. If it is registered to a tv in Britain will it work in our Sky box over there. We have not had the card long and we now have to register it, but don't know what to tell Sky - we don't want to say we are using it in Cyprus, but wondered if it is registered in the UK will it work over there.

Does anyone know?
