My 10x5 metre pool was 6 cm below the overflow before it started to rain. It's now at the top. So 50 square metres received 3 tons.

My plot size is about 1,000 sqaure metres, so I've had 60 tons. So, using my calculations, Alsancak is about 1,000 times the size of my plot, or maybe it's 10,000, so Alsancak has had between 60,000 to 600,000 tons.

I presume most of it has now run into the sea!

What a pity they can't find a way to harvest all of this rain, instead of it running down to the sea.

Would it take a lot of extra money when building developments to put underground pipes and a storage tank in. If they put in grates like in England just think how much of this rain could be saved.

Msg. 7 Hi Liz.

We discovered in early May 2002 that all our windows leaked & the water came through the frames & under the front door. In fact it got in everywhere. The rain that day was driving horizontally from the South. I'm not exagerating. We had shutters fitted immediately & the front door tiled area lowered to provide a slight step down. We've never since had any water in the house that belonged outside.

Texas - I'm in alsancak, and it DIDN'T run into the sea - just my pump room, as the builder did not install any sort of overflow, and the wall between the balance tank and the pump room is made of something akin to paper.....

I nearly love it here.......

When we were trying to discuss rainwater harvesting with our builder back in 2004, he looked at us in amazement and told us "We don't get enough rain here" - he totally believed that!
