There are only so many customers to go around, especially out of season, this seems pretty silly to me, about as clever as having the two sandwich bars together just past Cod Baba, great planning I must say !

That was my thoughts too, it is hard enough already to get customers in.

Good Luck Al Shaheen!

I am very sorry that you closed down near Iskele, you were one of the better restaurants, with the loss of the Dragon, Al Shaheen and The Moon Over The Water, dining out in the Bogaz area becoming very difficult, just mediocre kebabs and greasy spoons left with surly waiters and rip off prices.

To all your new customers great service very helpful staff and a great curry with a resonable price.

Well at least they aren't rip off prices like the Chinese..that take away in Karakum is a joke, his prices are outrageous and his food is rubbish, I asked him why he was so expensive and got a load of old bull, wont go there again.

Good luck to Al Shaheen from Kevin, Dee and Alano, we eat at the Karakum one a lot, excellent food and prices.

Can't understand why they are opening in Lapta almost next door to the Punjab. Karsiyaka has very few restaurants and so many people live there.

Good Luck to then though as competition is always healthy.

They have seen the business the Punjab are doing and want a slice, thats why!. Same happens in the uk all the time. Soon be, SUNDAY LUNCH, 10TL THREE COURSES and you wont be able to chew through the meat!. Competition is a good thing only in some cases.

I have been to both these restaurants and they both have high standards. I do not think for one moment that either of them would serve meat you could not chew. Both serve sunday lunches (and curries) in my opinion that are excellent x

It happens all the time, the price goes down, shortly followed by the quality. It always happens when you get two places opening next door to each other, serving the same food. How else do they get people in? only by cutting prices. The only other way is buffet style service to cut costs on staff, and thats when you DO get crap.

Another point..... I sometimes wonder about asian ( or indian) restaurants that people say "do a good sunday lunch". although I must admit, the punjab roast looks very nice! I might even give it a go today. Point is, it must be a north cyprus thing, you wouldn't in a million years have sunday lunch in your local curry house in the uk.

Agree with Queen180 Al Shaheen do great Sunday lunches and fabulous curries. Not many Asian restaurants that way so good luck with the venture. Friends who were at Punjab last week for Sunday lunch came away with headaches due to the cutlery clatter and voices bouncing off hard surfaces and they say the lunch wasn't that great either. Never had a bad meal at Al Shaheen in Karakum.

Msg 23: Couldnt agree more, I too broke my golden rule of not eating british food in an indian, and had a roast lamb dinner instead of curry, and I can only say it was absolutly spot on. The service was excellent, as was the food, these people could teach some of our english patrons here some tricks when it comes to running a restaurant properly. For price and value, this place is hard to beat.

Re msg 21: I see you are quoting friends comments, which is a little unfair as you were "not actually there!" I was, and those comments are just not true!

As for not enough asian restaurants that way, I think you need to read the previous comments.

I would neverl hold a flag for a venue if I thought it didnt deserve it, but in the case of the Punjab, -

Nice people

Nice place

Nice food

By the way, just to add, called into a well known english bar for a drink later that day, stood at the bar for five minutes, the barman looked at us, and carried on cleaning a table. Didnt say hello, how are you . kiss my ### or nothing. He obviously hoped we would go away so he could close early, well he got his wish, and we did.

THIS WAS AT 8.15 ON A SUNDAY NIGHT! .

Jinyx. In answer to your comments on msg 21. I have been there (Punjab) and agree with everything Panchocat said - deafening noise and average quality meal. You can get as good or better Sunday lunch for less cost at Al Shaheen, The Grove, China Garden and Happy Valley all without having your eardrums assaulted.

Alshaheen, to answer your original question, I was driving past Sinatras, that used to be near bektas supermarket. They still have tables and chairs in the premises, why don't you give them a call, I bet they'd welcome getting some cash for them. Good luck with your venture.

Also, just my opinion, but Punjab have served us at least four roast dinners that are just 'the best'. Please, Rhiaz, can you give me the recipe for your yorkshire puds, you put mine to shame.
