Hi All,
Just joined, and was looking for some assistance. Hoping to travel to
Northern Cyprus in April 09, have looked at lots of hotels but quite
fancy the Prince Inn. Cant seem to get any reviews on it here in
bonny Glasgow, has anyone stayed there or can anyone recommend
somewhere else.
Many thanks, and please be gentle !

It's on the busy, main road at Karaoglanoglu just before the University. Very handy for banks and ATM's, a Fish and Chip Shop and Indian Restaurant. Rooms at the front are noisey. Ensure you request a rear room.

Hi Diamond Gal.
Well I am TOTALLY biased but THE SHIP just outside Kyrenia. Stayed there 5 times never had a bad moment. Friendly about £15 B&B (negotiable) Great Pool. Exceptional food. Great Ambience. Rooms recently refurbished. Personal introduction to ZUBE head waiter.(great guy)
Swimming Pool and Terrace 1st class. WONDERFUL PEOPLE. Almost everyone on multiple visit.
Gentle enough? Take care...wynyardman

I stayed long term at Sammy's hotel in Kyrenia. Comfortable rooms, nice pool, 5 minutes walk from centre and harbour (the advantage of this is that you won't need to hire a car as bus services are cheap and close by) Mainly English guests. WiFi available in room either through hotel system or Extend hotspot (for a fee) - useful if you are thinking of buying and need some info. Recommended.

Wynyardman is correct, the Ship Inn is the best located holiday village, The owners, staff and returning guests are like one big family.
Highly recommended

Stayed at the Prince Inn while house hunting. Nice pool and lovely breakfast. The waitress was really nice. However, shower did not work and it is noisy if you don't get the balcony rooms overlooking the pool (only two of them) Balcony was covered in bird droppings. Try the Ship or Riverside or Altinkaya was nice.

Diamond Gal,
Just take a close look at The Ship. The website cannot describe the ambience though.
Dinner on the terrace on a warm evening after a couple of Efes. The memories linger!
The only surprize was a pleasant one when I got the bill.(can't be bad). Nearly everyone
that stays there are regulars, also a popular venue to eat, for the ex pat community.
Zube the Head Waiter is a national treasure and much valued by all. (ex Riverside Park)
No, I am not on comission, just a very satisfied customer. You can see the menu on the website .Absolutely delicious.
wynyardman.
PS. No cats around the dining tables!!!

hiya,
Dont mind cats ! have 1 at home Victor (as in Meldrew), dont however
like them much at dinner time! Can I be cheeky and ask if you
stay in Northern Cyprus, you seem very very clued up in all things !
Can I ask you if April is a good time to visit or would you recommend
another time of year, everyone tells me October is a good month also.
Thanks again for your advice, hope Im not imposing too much on your
good nature.
Take care diamond gal

Diamond Gal,
Funny that! My wife says that I am like Victor Meldrew.!
Don't mind cats but rather a lot at the Riverside, and they can be a little annoying around
the dining facilities.
April and October best months by far unless you are a sun godess. Very Very hot in summer.
If its your first time in TRNC you will love it. If you have already booked the Riverside you will have a lovely time. The owners dog in the bar is adorable. I was allowed to buy him a packet of crisps every night.
No problem......What good nature was that!

Ha Ha,
No I havent made my mind up yet. Visited Paphos in 2005 and to be
frank, didnt feel all that comfortable, until I visited Polis and absolutely
fell in love with the place. Southern Cyprus people were amazingly
friendly but just felt the town centre was like Glasgow on a Saturday
night (dont feel comfortable there either).
Am not a pool or beach person, love just to get a good feel for a
place and just explore (sounds boring I know) but love to wander and
get chatting to the locals etc, hopefully TRNC will not disappoint. !

Diamond Gal If you found Paphos a liitle busy I am sure you will find NC a lot more relaxing. More Restaurants, less Bars, no louts and the Turkish Cypriot people are friendlier still. I hope you enjoy you visit.

Wouldnt recommend the Prince Inn as it is on the busy main road and the rooms are not fantastic. The Riviera is just around the corner and my cousin has stayed there many times it is very peaceful.

If you are not looking to rent a villa or apartment, then I would sincerely go along with the majority on this thread and stay at the Ship Inn, you will not be dissapointed.

Hi Diamond Gal.
Can you get over there quick, and stop Zube from getting married.
Who is going to serve the guests half the night, and then be serving breakfast at 7.00am?
Oh Woe is me!
Seriously though, you will have a great time. We will be over there on 24/9 to try to rescue
him! Maybe earlier as well if the builder pulls his finger out! Have a great trip.
Give my best to all at The Ship. Management Staff and Guests. What a smashing lot!
wyn.

Dave,
A sure good sign for a hotel is when people return again and again.
Whenever I visit (again in September) I meet the same old crowd.
Wonderful hotel, wonderful food, friendliest of Staff. hospitable, popular and friendly.
Can't wait to get that welcoming glass of ice cold Effes!
