Does anyone out there know if "LightScribe" CD's and DVD's are for sale in Northern Cyprus?

If you can't get them here, try Amazon or Rab at Lambousa

If you mean the CD/DVD labelling stuff then you can download free (pirated) from isohunt.com, et al.

Just to let you know - if you ever need to use them - that I found blank Lightscribe CD's/DVD's in Girne today. They are for sale at "ComAks" (Computer and Accessories Center), left hand, main road towards the big roundabout (next to Mr. Pound). The prices are 2 TL and 3 TL respectively. A good shop, where the staff helps you very friendly! Tel.: 0392 815 0200 and 0392 815 3600. Email: comaksbilgisayar@gmail.com .

I tries lightscribe CD's a couple of years ago and have to say I was very disapointed with the results. The contrast of the burnt image was terrible and it was near impossibe to to read anything imaged onto the disk. I went back to using a permanent felt tip pen as before. Have things improved since then ?

What is the contrast like Hans? Does it look like a printed black text or a washed out slightly darker grey than the rest of the disk that was my previous experience ?

RE msg 7, erolz: I use a LaCie Super Writemaster CD/DVD writer - it can write/read double layer CD/DVD's) and write Lightscribe CD/DVD's. The software is Lightscribe labeler version 1.2.2 (for Mac; I don't know the version for PC). The result, I think, is amazing. There are shades of grey (if you want to) or hard black - all determined in your design. Even the jpg's are very good especially when you use 600dpi. On coloured fronts of CD/DV's (green, red, grey) it's possible to create special effects. There's one con: it takes 20 minutes to burn a Lightscribe CD/DVD, even on my fast LaCie writer (for Mac and PC).

RE msg 9, cyprusairsoft: (...) take it you didnt want my offer then dutchy (...)

=> I apologise, cyprusairsoft, I should have given you a reaction on your kind offer. I just plain forgot. At the time of this thread a Dutch friend planned to visit us in TRNC and he promised to bring me a whole bunch of CD/DVD's. Again: sorry!

P.S. Are they still on offer? I have begun to like to use the Lightscribe CD/DVD's!
