Hi Welcome Ossie

Yes I would say around £350 is the average rental for a 3 bedroom place

Good luck to you

The rentals are plentiful at the moment but the work situation is not. Can you speak Turkish? It is not easy to get employment when the employer has to get a work permit for you.

Hi Adagirl

I gathered that work is not so easy to come buy, i do speak Turkish (It Needs a little practice tho).

I do have some relatives tho not that close..but sure they would help us out if need be.

I'am i right that in order to work the employer HAS to get a Work permit, weather or not you speak turkish or not ..

Thanks for your comment,

Sure it a great place i was there in August this year....the whole family loved it....but it's a different kettle of fish when you have to live and work and earn money..... and also the education for the kids is our main PRIORTY.

I see you self employed is it hard to do run your own business?

ANY FURTHER INFO WOULD BE GREAT.

A friend of mine found it hard here due to the cost of educating his children and no chance of working, savings soon start to dwindle, he was'nt old enough to receive any pensions etc so had to go back to UK

think you need to apply for a kimlik id card when you arrive. Yes you have to do your time in the army as I know a 40 year old london cypriot that recently returned to the Uk to avoid the army service after being here for a good 5 years. So I guess its a gamble.....but probably best to get the correct answer from a cypriot born in the uk ...

Whom do you consider the priority - you, or your children. If the former, by all means come - if the latter, forget it!

We know too many couples in your situation who've ignored the best advice, viz a viz education and the standard of. They've come, some have admitted for selfish motives, seen the reality, then returned to 'Blighty', having lost a lot of money on what they eventually considered to be rip-off education fees and the costs involved in the move to Cyprus. Even ignoring the hassle of obtaining work permits, there would be no worthwhile jobs for you, and certainly for your children after their 'education'.

Please try and read and inwardly digest the dozens upon dozens of previous topics on this subject posted on this forum.

However, if you can afford to bankroll your children in TRNC for life, after their 'education', then come tomorrow!

Hi John

Thanks for you're very honest answer, i do and i will digest the comments made by many, it's definately the latter!! and therefore will consider if this move will be in there very best interest.

Unfortunately i am unable to bankroll my children nor myself in Cyprus so careful consideration will be given.

Thinkin of a short term 1 to 1.5 year stay, will need to decide on the impact on the kids first.

Thanks again for your comment.
