Went into Pegasus today to ask about pre booking my excess luggage for returning to the UK they said and I quote there is no such thing as pre-booking you take your luggage to the Airport and it will cost you

£8. per kilo WOW

So much for the runaround today, looked on line to do it no way.

Also it will cost cheaper with Ankara than going direct to Pegasus strange office.

Came away more depressed than when I went in )

Messages like this always make me laugh.... I know you all want to support the TRNC economy, and a longer journey and a stop off in Turkey seems attractive to some.... but sometimes you just need to think about your pocket.

Flying BA from the South (supporting the UK economy is just as much a worthwhile cause too), will let you check in excess luggage for just £24 for 23Kg (that's £1.04 per kilo, compared to the £8 Pegasus are quoting) and you can take up to 10 bags... i.e 10 x 23Kg for just £240. I think even with the fare costing a little more with BA, this option still works out cheaper.

I dont think everyone is worrying about the UK & TRNC economies rather they would prefer not to pay taxes to the economy in the south.

There are times when I do recomend flying South although I prefer to ssend clients to Ercan as far as is possible.

I will address the prices later I must be off. (Sometimes both sides win or lose on this front.)

Smithy - I once did the flight Stansted to Ercan via Istanbul and had to change planes and go through security a second time. When I bought my duty free goods in London, the cashier asked if I was going to be changing flights and as I wasn't sure (sometimes you get to stay on the same plane) he said that as a precaution, he would seal my duty free bag so as not to encounter any problems and I didn't This time, it's Easyjet from the South for me and dread to think about this adventure.

If you book on monarch from Larnaca and you have anything that can be classed as sports equipment they do an extra 20kg of sports equipment for £18 so dig out your old rugger boots or dappers and chuck anything else in thats what I do when I have a load to bring back

Hi Shelia, With Easyjet, when you book, you can also book how much excess baggage you want to take and pay for it online. That makes it so much easier, and you won't have all the worry about your excess baggage that you seem to be experiencing, from what you keep putting on the forum.

Sheila,

What would the cost be if you were to send a package via cargo? I don't know how to go about it but I would check to see if it is cheaper to send something via cargo. It may be a waste of time, I really have no idea at all, it's just an idea.

Is there no one going from here on the same flight as you? Post your details, you never, if like me, they may well be going with a relatively low weight in baggage ready to bring back a load of goodies from the UK sales.

I am leaving from Ercan on the 30th January via Pegasus at 8.15am flight H9 501

Worth a try Scooby

Should have put another couple of boxes on my shipments but its all done now, so paying out all ways

Thats life

Many thanks for all your help, your a great lot on the forum

Sheila - Paul said (providing he's not working on that particular day) that he would be happy to meet Laptagirl at Stansted (it's only around 50 mins from us). Of course, we would still have to meet up for you to collect your stuff, but happy to help if we can.

Email me off board if we can be of any assistance, date, time, etc.

Jean
