Today in Karsiyaka, a taxi hit a small cream Cyprus Poodle, dragged it along the road, then the driver got out and kicked the dog onto the verge and drove off and left it. I have taken it to Firdez and she has operated on it this afternoon and it has 2 broken back legs, but should be ok. Although Firdez can look after it for the next couple of days, it then needs to be cared for whilst its legs heal. It can then be re-homed. Unfortunately we return to the UK tomorrow aftn for 2 weeks, so if anyone is able to help and look after this while the breaks heal, could they pls contact me on 0533 837 4350 (only up to 12 o'clock tomorrow Thurs 10th), or Firdez directly on 0533 866 3806. Thanks Michaela

Thanks Everon, but Firdez has just called and advised that he has died (just as she had finished operating). Poor little thing.

Some of these taxi drivers think they are the only ones allowed on the roads, and take chances with peoples lives. When I see a taxi in my rear view mirror they almost always have to overtake, I know it is a business but safety should come first.

It is totally beyond me that some people can be so heartless and cruel.

The poor little dog.

Thanks to Michaela for trying to help , I feel for you seeing such a thing, and hope you manage to have a good trip to UK.

Michaela, you did what you could, maybe a blesing that this poor little dog passed away. What future, a life in KAR, at least it would have been loved there but no prospects. Wish you had got the taxi drivers number, but that was not priority of course, at least we could have all done what we could to blacklist him.

What a disgusting act! Some of these people make me sick to my stomach. I do hope his Karma catches up with him and soon.

Michaela and Firdez you are both absolute angels.

A very sad ending, but you both did so much to help and bless you for trying x

The world needs more caring people.

How deeply deeply sad - how can any human hurt an animal, and walk away - it beggars belief..... This male could be a husband/father - yet clearly, he is totally emotionally bankrupt. I hope the poor dog didn't suffer too much and cuddles all round to you who did what you could to help........

MsGarnet - the sad fact is, he was probably more annoyed that he had to get out of his taxi to kick it out of the way than anything else. Whenever ı see a dead dog at the side of the road I always wonder if the driver stopped......... I think not in most cases.

Perhaps someone could clear up a query for me , Firdez operated on this poor dog , sadly it died . There was news of another hit & run last week , but someone said the vets had to come from Turkey and the one that came for another reason wouldn't operate as the funds were not available ??? i could have possibly missed something here so i apologise if i have , so , can vets in NC operate on animals or not ?

That thought struck me also

I understand the dog which was hit outside Tolgas Bar had severe injuries, possibbly more of a complication and couldn't be done by the vets here. But I am not 100% sure.

Simbas, Firdez does operations that are within her own capabilities but she has to call upon surgeons of different levels of expertise and who specialise in different fields no doubt, to perform other types of operations.

Sadly the dog that was badly injured outside Tolga's had to be put down because they couldn't raise the funds quickly enough for the operation to go ahead. She had broken both her front legs and one was so bad that it needed pinning with an external frame. It is this kind of complicated operation that the vets here cannot do.
