In a previous now closed thread re KAR, I would like to say to you in response to why do people not attend the KAR AGM and air their concerns. Well I was told I would be ejected from the AGM if I tried to attend , to all you lot who keeping asking for facts THAT IS A FACT.



Fiendishpaul, I can assure you that a secret ballot was conducted by KAR to appont a 5 person committee to run the shop. The executive committee of KAR refused point blank to give the ballot results to the shop staff FACT.

I have great respect for many of the volunteers of KAR but I cannot tolerate the underhanded practice that I have highlighted.



KAR is a registered charity and should be open and honest in their behaviour.

I have no idea why a secret ballot should be held to appoint a committee to run the shop. That said, a secret ballot is usually conducted when the 'voters' do not want anyone else to know how they voted - Maybe those who were choosing the committee did not want the voting 'record' made public in case it upset those who were not selected ?? This is a small island with a small expat community and it is very easy to offend someone unintentionally ! However, I am only surmising and may be a long way off base.



Please do not take this the wrong way, but you stated that your wife used to manage the shop. Did she leave as a result of this secret ballot ??

KAR AGM is open to the public. I have attended and I am not a member of KAR. Accounts are presented at the time

Quarmby i know that you have explained your reasons for not attending the AGM BUT my post was not aimed at you - there are other much more vociferous members who seem to hate it whenever anything positive is said about KAR so they repeat their same old arguments and allegations time after time on this board. As i said earlier -

I would like to know whether those that seem to have an ongoing problem with the way KAR is run, and repeatedly post their concerns and allegations (real or otherwise) on this forum, attended the KAR AGM this year and put their concerns and allegations (real or otherwise) to the KAR Committee ?



If not why not ?
