Wanted - Old Laptops/PC's for refurbishment

I have started to pick up "free only" laptops and PC's that I make into working items and then pass on to local children that can not afford to buy new ones. Not doing any of this for profit at all and have no intention of making a business out of it but have gone back to using my old IT skills for the benefit of the local population.



If anyone has an old laptop or PC with monitor - laptop/PC working or not, sorry I am not able to work on or fix CRT monitors as I no longer have the equipment required - that they are thinking of throwing out can you please drop me an email and I will collect and see if I can use them to build up working items. Many thanks for all replies, I will get back to you as soon as I can and will not forget to either. It can be a slow business getting a working item from some old bits but it is worth the effort to see the smiles and be able to say "No Charge, just play with it".

H&NComputers - Many thanks indeed, there will always be something that can be used, no matter how old it is - I have spent the last 15 years supporting the Military side of the MoD with old tat so have become a master at it. I will try to get to see you on Monday or Tuesday of next week if that is ok with you.



Ozankoymum - Let me get myself better organised please and I will contact you again and see what your laptop problem is. No money though thank you, it is best not to get into that sort of thing but if I can fix it for you for free then I will do it anyway. The X-Box is another thing as have never had one of those apart but find on the "Net" that it is just a PC in a clever case so may be able to do something with that as well. Thanks.

Dutch, yes please, I have a lot myself but there is always that other little thing that is missing - by the way I have a lot of Mac software on DVD as well if you want a scour through it. Most of it I have not even used but you never know when you need it so I have kept the lot.

Stokiefan, have just replied with many thanks. You are not alone in the hope it goes to a good home - my wife is top of the list with the same hope now I have turned the spare room upstairs into a workshop and used all her spare cupboard space for storage of bits!!



I have lots of bits to re-use now and just awaiting a couple of keyboards/mice and a screen from the UK to be able to get them together as working units and ship them on out - its great to see them go as much as to get the bits in.

Yes please - screens will come later I am sure and even if not an old CRT is a lot less expensive than a whole new system for some of these kids.



Let me know where you are and I will collect - its easier than rowing your boat down my track in this weather.







Anyone out there with a power supply that fits a Packard Bell LCD screen? Probably gathering dust in a drawer and you are wondering what it was for originally!!!

Hi Mick, am home now, and OH just reminded me, we've got a dell inspiron 6400 you can have too, he spilt wine on the keyboard ooops. but you are welcome to that and lots of other hardware bits and bobs I've got in my shop

I have an Acer laptop about 6-7 years old that does not work. have been told the main board has gone due to power surges. If its any good you are welcome to have it for free. Otherwise its going in dusty bin!
