Good morning all, my landlord cannot believe that I want the central heating switching on, and have been asking for it to be fixed for the past month! The apartment is freezing and hubby and I and the two canaries have now taken up residence in the kitchen with a gas light on the hob all day long! A man came to fix the boiler but then told the landlord that there's not enough pressure in the gas to supply my apartment so the landlord's now offered to let me pay half of £300 towards topping up the gas so that it will supply my apartment! I can't understand the logic cos we've got gas coming through on the cooker hob. I'm not sure it'll work so I've decided I can't wait another weekend, we need heat. Can anyone tell me if there's a reasonably cheap place to buy gas heaters? I've seen some in Nicosia, all for 155TL which is around what I paid back in the UK. I know things aren't cheap here, but just thought I'd ask... also, how much are gas bottles?

Thanks for that. I've just looked and everything I've seen on there is now sold. Please, anyone know anywhere else, or someone selling? Thanks.

pippie, why not try one of the old fashioned wood burners...they are very reasonable to buy and fit...it was on another thread th other day, and they kick out loads of heat!! I know what it's like to be cold here, my first year was absolutely freezing, and i was sooooo miserable. So good luck dear, and i hope you get heat soon. DD

Hi DD, but don't you need some sort of outlet for a wood burner? I'm only in here for another couple of months then I'm hoping to move so I don't really want something that has to be 'fitted' somehow - and the landlord might not be happy with that anyway. I want a quick fix, that's why I was thinking of a gas heater. Please everyone, don't forget little ole me sitting here shivering - any suggestions of where to go to get a heater, and a gas bottle if necessary, very much appreciated. Thanks.

My friends in Karsiyaka had a valve regulator fitted to the gas pipe for the boiler, to give it pressure and not expensive. Ask a uk plumber here maybe get a result. Is yours a seperate boiler in the apartment or a communal boiler.
